I strongly agree with Stephen King’s excerpt of “What Writing Is”. The fact that he mentions telepathy and it being possible, then he shows you it’s possible. That’s pretty great. You can see similar examples in modern times such as say the media casting bad vibes to the people. Everything’s either crime, racism, or sexism these days. Further dividing us a nation.

You can see specific examples in the subtitles and subtext from different news articles. The way they cover different stories and the stories they choose to cover. The way we perceive crime and such has a very large connection to how it is presented to us. The more negative the coverage, the more negative we are going to feel about it. Like for instance, ever since the 9/11 terrorist attack, the media coverage of Muslims has gotten significantly worse, further extending racial barriers. …show more content…

Many other articles blame the media for such a significant decrease in popularity of Muslim-Americans. Much the same with the African-American community. Recently there has been a lot of disagreements between the African-American community and our police forces nationwide. Protests and riots have become more frequent; thus, casting many negative views towards the African-American community. Many believe this is a result of the Media and how they choose to cover stories.
The way the media presents their stories to us is only one form of telepathy. Much to the same as Stephen King’s example. In both instances, you are not there, you can’t see first-hand what happened or what to see at all. Instead, the way we get these perceptions are based on the way it is presented to us whether it be through a book, media coverage, or even just through a friend.
