Statement of purpose

Over the recent years, the business world has become rapidly integrated across the once restricting borders, and anyone with goals that are set high in the business world must be aware of the international perspectives and must have a wide knowledge of the international arenas that are there today. Living in Kenya, one of Africa’s best tourist destinations, gave me a unique experience because it allowed me to have a diverse background both academically and professionally which has exposed me to different continents, peoples, cultures, and languages due to the large number of tourists that visit the country, and the diversity that they bring along. From a very young age, I began learning about tourism and how the tourism industry works, including the various stakeholders that are involved in order to make a destination successful. Being brought up in Kenya, I believe that I am familiar with the increasingly important markets, both niche and new, in this region, and thus I am thoroughly prepared for the challenges and demands that I will come across during my studies in the MBA program at your institution.

Due to my increased interest in Tourism, and rich background about business and geography during my O and A level studies, I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management at the United States International University of Africa. I particularly chose this university because the program was well structured, along with the professors who had great experience in the field, added to the sophistication of the overall program that offered a variety of courses that would enable me to understand the perspectives of the business environment and not tourism in general. I am selecting Memorial University of Newfoundland to pursue a Masters degree in Business Administration because I have been influenced by the way your program has been structured. Your website gives a clear breakdown of the modules that are offered in this program, therefore will help me improve my cognizance in the tourism field. I believe that living in Newfoundland is an excellent choice to pursue my further education because it is safe and has supportive and friendly people. This experience will allow me to explore new places, diversity, learn about the different cultures, the history of Newfoundland.
