In healthcare system, all stakeholders have different role, interest and need. All members are important to regulate the activities. These are: patients, providers for example doctors, midwives, nurse, pharmacies. Then payers for example health insurance companies, banks, funds. Industry like Pharmaceutical companies, biotech industry, distributors like wholesalers, large retail chains, Government institutions, and Non-Governmental Organizations.

Healthcare is dependent on different markets such as education, institutional, pharmaceutical, labour and so on. The price mechanism stated above is not practical to implement in healthcare market. In addition, it is interesting to know about the demand in healthcare. Unlike the other markets, in healthcare, demand for health is not usually felicitous. It is for improvement of the health. Health here can be considered as the public good, which have specific features like non-rival and non-excludable, for instance, the use of it by one person cannot stop other person from benefitting from it and second, each unit can be consumed by all the consumers, and consumers cannot be excluded from its consumption which leads to free riding. Also, this is a good, which is necessary for well-being of human kind, and hence leads to demand for its improvement. Like any other goods, people are willing to pay for the improvement for the health. Everyone wants to have an access to healthcare, these demands can be from societal perspective or individual perspective.
