Have you ever held another person's life in your hands? Professionals in the sports management industry handle an athletes well being, body, and money. Many would say those are pretty pivotal things in an athletes life. Well, sports have been one of the biggest things in my life and so its clear why my career choice has to do with sports. But more specifically, Initially I looked at my struggle rehabilitating and how without the support of the therapists around me, I wouldn't have progressed back to walking so smoothly. Next I thought about how the trainers exercised my body and knew exactly how fast I needed to progress so I didn't injure my self more. Without the support of the doctors, therapists, and family members, my journey would have been slowed down. Athletes go through the same things when they get an injury, especially when there's a threat of the injury being career ending. These athletes feel helpless, and just want the process to speed up. Sports psychologists support you and make sure your in the right mindset to recover. A lot of positivity helps patients, from doctors and family members. Family plays a huge role but as a sports psychologist, I wish to become almost like a family member to my patients. This builds trust, and ultimately a patient you have a connection with will be easier to work with. Many could argue the professional sports leagues today are just as much a business as they are a sport. Athletes can't possibly worry about their performance on the court or field when bombarded with talks about salaries, endorsements, and contracts. This is where a trusted sports agent comes into play. The idea to be a sports agent came to me when a Northwood University recruiter came to me and asked if I'd ever considered having a back up plan to my physical therapists dream. She followed up by telling me the benefits of a job in the business of sports instead of a primarily health revolved career. That mixed with a very inspiring presentation on business at Northwood University, made me realize just how big money is in the sports world. These professionals handle all business aspects of athlete's careers. Although it's a very competitive field and athletes select who they hire as an agent, I'm confident that with my degrees, attitude, and knack for sports information, I'd successfully run an athlete's career. This career is one of many interesting fields in the sports management
