Teaching kids to be leaders in today’s world is a hard task that many people have tried to do and have been unsuccessful, but youth sports, on the other hand, have no problem teaching kids these important life skills. Ever since Youth competitive sports existed people have been arguing over whether they are. Youth competitive sports teach kids many important life skills, for example, they teach kids how to work together with other people. Another life lesson that sports teach is leadership skills. Although some people say kids shouldn’t play youth competitive sports because they can get injured, the pros like teaching life skills outweigh the cons by a lot. For example, they teach kids leadership skills which are always a good skill to have especially when they are older and have a job. This is shown in source 2 “Do Sports Help Improve Leadership Skills?” By: Tara Duggan when it says, “People who play sports learn how to present their winning ideas to others, and improve their leadership capacity by listening to others”(Duggan Para. 5). This shows that youth sports teach kids how to communicate with others which is a big part of being a leader. This is shown again in Source 2 when it says, “By participating on a team, a player learns to develop strategies and work with his teammates to enable their victory”(Duggan Para. 4). This means that youth sports teach kids how to develop strategies which you need to be able to do quickly when you’re a leader, and how to work as a team which a leader needs to be able to do if they want to be successful. This lesson is also shown in source 3 when it says, “Sports brings different challenges to each of the participants, but can also allow them to recognize the challenge at hand”(Tanner Para. 8). This is significant because youth sports make kids face all different types of challenges which is what happens to leaders
