Religious is an important part of life. As we live in a society where religious is first priority of people. Our democracy follows the religion Islam. So religious is necessary for us to live according to rules and norms of society and Government. Religion enhances our emotional well-being hope and emotional support during period of sufferings and when an individual feels alone. Religion promotes love, honesty, non-violence and discipline in human life. It provides a goal and way to live a meaningful life. Religious gives rise to sprit of brotherhood. Danah Zohar defined 12 principles underlying spiritual intelligence: Self-awareness: Knowing what I believe in and value, and what deeply motivates me. Spontaneity: Living in and being responsive to the moment. Being vision: and value-led: Acting from principles and deep beliefs, and living accordingly. Holism: Seeing larger patterns, relationships, and connections; having a sense of belonging. Compassion: Having the quality of "feeling-with" and deep empathy. Celebration of diversity: Valuing other people for their differences, not despite them. Field independence: Standing against the crowd and having one's own convictions. We want to study that spiritual intelligence effect on students to perform religious practices. How effectively person becomes religious with high spiritual intelligence. How spiritual intelligence is helpful in understanding of religious faith and beliefs. How spiritual intelligence is necessary for intrinsic religion. How people attain the peak of intrinsic religion at which there relation become directly with super natural forces or with GOD. It is that level which Maslow called Self actualization (1964). Religion is an important aspect in life today because it is a specific system of belief about a deity that usually involves rituals, code of morals, and how to understand the meaning and purpose of life in the world, yet everyone has their own belief. Religion is being incorporated into many things, especially in music and there is a big topic about hip-hop music incorporating religious language and themes.
The necessity of religion is a topic that has been widely debated by many people for many years. The vast majority of the 7 and a half billion people on this earth practice some sort of religion but for what purpose? Whether it’s too give people hope for an afterlife or too fuel their need for contact with others people can list hundreds of different reasons why they rely on religion but is religion actually essential to our wellbeing and and life quality on this planet?
Religion has 7 core attributes that allow someone to call it a religion, these include Narrative, Doctrine, Emotional, Material, Ethical, Ritual and Social. These seven attributes help individuals identify what can be classified as a “religion”, however spirituality has no “easy way” to identifying it. Spirituality can be found within the individual looking for their “meaning” but not physically expressed.
“In thinking about religion, it is easy to be confused about what it is.” (Smart, 1992) To combat this, Smart uses seven dimensions to define common characteristics of religion. Much of what will be explored will fit his dimensions. The practical and ritual dimension can been seen in all three religions through worship and rituals and patterns of behaviour. The latter are those acts that help the believer develop spiritual awareness or ethical insight, such as yoga or meditation in Buddhism and Hinduism. The experiential and emotional dimension of religion explains that religion feeds on human emotions and key events from history to illustrate this is, the enlightenment of the Buddha, or the visions of Muhammad. A person will not follow something without meaning or emotion driving it. The narrative or mythic dimension of religion refers to the use of story telling in religion. Typically, all faiths use stories to illustrate their beliefs or events in history, whether they might be of things to come, or like in this essay, stories of the Buddha, or Muhammad. The use of story telling is important as the stories are often based on accounts of history or documents that have been found. Story telling can enhance the believers faith and are often integrated into rituals. The doctrinal and philosophical dimension of religion talks about the importance of the holy books/ doctrines. Since the doctrines typically have an account of the leaders life, and the leaders are usually educated, believers read the doctrines to gain an insight into the leaders life; and thus strive to become more like them or abide by their teachings. Cultural intelligence is quickly becoming the focus for companies looking to diversify into the global market. When focusing on a business strategy, maintaining the conceptual mindset of business as a mission (BAM) is crucial, not only for increasing the company’s success, but individual leaders within the business (Tunehag, 2008). One of the strategies to focus on while improving an approach of BAM is the concept of cultural intelligence. Furthermore, individuals capable of self-study and improvement will begin to see an increase for their company, as well as, God’s kingdom when their focus is in alignment with the teaching of the Holy Bible.
Religion has stricken much debate over its origins. Some finds propose that some sort of religion was present since the beginning of mankind. Evidence of sacrificial ceremonies can relate the relationship between man and animal, and between man and his natural environment. Another theory of the birth of religion came from the “Near East” from the polytheistic views of the Hindu. They believed there were gods and goddesses of fire, wind, rain, and earth which lead to them making ceremonial prayers for rain, sunshine, or health. The pantheistic views, from African and American Indian cultures, briefly meant all is God. And the monotheistic views which is believed to have come from 2000BC. One can only question, what purpose does religion serve in today’s society? And what does society, as a whole, feel it needs to know?
Religions have always played a vital role between humans and its society especially in terms of what is good and proper in the society. In modern world, people have become increasingly dissociated from religion and spirituality.
During the European industrialization, theorist Émile Durkheim was the first to analyze religion in terms of societal impact. Durkheim defined religion as a “unified system of beliefs and practices relative to sacred things” (Keirns, N. et al, p. 337, 2012). In terms of society, Durkheim overall believed that religion is about community: It binds people together (social cohesion), promotes behavior consistency (social control), and offers strength for people during life’s tribulations (meaning and purpose) (Keirns, N. et al, p. 337, 2012). He held that the source of religion is the collective mind-set of society and that this cohesive bond of social order resulted from common values in a society (Keirns, N. et al, p. 337, 2012). Religion plays an enormous role in the history of mankind. Wars have been fought over it, lives have been surrounded by it, and it has directly or indirectly shaped the lives of many individuals. Culture and religion play a large role in developing each other. People’s religion is decided by their culture. Significant differences have been found out to exist between high and low spiritual intelligence and all dimensions of both emotional intelligence and mental well-being (Dash & Patnaik, 2015). The findings suggest that people possessing high spiritual intelligence are more emotionally stable and have healthier mental condition than those with low spiritual intelligence. Dash and Patnaik (2015) maintained that emotional intelligence draws on emotional resources in the same manner that spiritual intelligence (SI) can be conceived as a set of abilities that draw on spiritual resources of the individual. Ability to recognize, understand and respond to the emotions of others requires a level of emotional literacy that is achieved after one becomes able to recognize her/his own feelings and emotions. Thus, being able to understand the actual origin of one’s feelings is the territory of spiritual intelligence. Spirituality can have many different definitions, depending on who is asked. It can be something as simple as looking for a higher meaning to life, or something so complex that one can base their beliefs, religion and overall life around it. There are several different ways to express one's spirituality; rituals, songs, dances, stories, and writings are all common methods of expression.
