‘Preloved’ by the one and only, Shirley Marr is not only one of the most mysterious speculative fiction novels you will ever encounter, but in fact it also creates a sense of romance and adventure to captivate the audience. A lost ghost from the 80s, an eccentric mother and a toxic best friend the list never ends, the main character Amy faces all of those complications which is why the book is so spellbinding. Speculative fiction is starting to become one of the most preferred genres as teenagers like me and you use it to enhance and boost our imagination which is what ‘Preloved’ focuses on, changing our mindsets to see diverse worlds.This book is very beneficial for everyone as it has many relatable life lessons that people can undertake
Sasha Dawn’s Oblivion is about Calliope Knowles a 16 year old girl who has a compulsion to write which is also known as graphomania. Calliope’s compulsion to write was brought on by the disappearance of her father the reverend of the Holy Promise church, and a young girl from the church Hannah Ryne’s, as it gets closer to the anniversary of the disappearance Calliope starts to write and remember more of the night. This book is enjoyable because it doesn’t just focus on Calliope’s urges to write it also looks into her past before the night she was found in an abandoned apartment writing “I killed him” on the walls, the book also goes into detail about her foster family and her relationship with her friends.
If you ask people, what their favorite book is, they will answer right away. Ask them why that book, most of the responses are because it marked their life or it relates closely to what they are living. "Dark Inside" by Jeyn Roberts is one of those books that marks people's lives. This book makes you see life in a different perspective. This literature should be recommended and shared with people because it makes you rethink about yourself and see the world in a different light.
I really, really enjoyed reading Trapped in Cyberspace. I applaud Ayala Stimler for her boldness in writing a novel about such an “unspoken” topic. I think it’s very important for all teenagers to read Michal’s story, it truly opened up my eyes to the horrors of the World Wide Web. Everything about this story is amazing-- plot, choice of words, and message. I strongly recommend this book the adolescents and adults alike.

They always say to never judge a book by its cover, but my first impression I got when I looked at this book was that people gathered around a bus waiting for their family members to get off. After reading The Latehomecomer by Kao Kalia Yang I then realized that the people on the cover weren't just waiting around for their family but finding their loved ones they once lost. When I first started reading this book I was a little nervous because I never read that many books and I feel that the reason why I don’t is because not many books stand out to me. In school I would have to read books for the class or for a book report but get bored or my attention couldn’t stay focused. Just a few pages into this book and I seemed interested in what was
PTSD, also known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, can cause change and bring about pain and stress in many different forms to the families of the victims of PTSD. These changes can be immense and sometimes unbearable. PTSD relates to the characters relationship as a whole after Henry returns from the army and it caused Henry and Lyman’s relationship to crumble. The Red Convertible that was bought in the story is a symbol of their brotherhood. The color red has many different meanings within the story that relates to their relationship.
Margaret Peterson sets her cliffhanger mystery book, Haddix: The Missing Found, in a modest neighborhood in Ohio. This book is in first person point of view, being told by the main character, Jonah Skidmore. The tone is fearful because Jonah voices his fears to his friend, Chip, multiples times throughout the story and usually has a fearful attitude when trying to overcome obstacles. Haddix: The Missing Found, is about a group of famous children from history who were stolen by futuristic time travelers and sent back to the 21st century as babies. These babies were soon adopted by random families around the world, and had a normal life. However, when they got to be around 13 years old, they start to get threatening letters sent to them telling them that they are, “one of the missing” (Peterson 20). These kids proceed to venture on a journey to find the person who is sending these creepy letters, and go through many obstacle along the way. Overall, I thought that Haddix: The Missing Found was a great read because it was very mysterious and kept me guessing the whole time I was reading, and I found that the characters were really relatable.
I would recommend this book to a friend because this book is a great book all around. This book has good suspense even though it might seem like a kids book.
Coraghessen Boyle and Where are you going, where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates both fulfill the expectations of the coming-of-age-genre when the authors take us through events that the protagonists experience—transforming them from youth to maturity. Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessen Boyle ends most positively because the male protagonist realizes he didn’t murder Bobbie, and he learns a life lesson; there are dangerous consequences for bad actions. Where are you going, where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates ends negatively because the female protagonist, Connie, is kidnapped by the antagonist, Arnold Friend. Connie’s fate was not “sealed” because she was female, but because as an individual she is a vulnerable, young and naïve. I would recommend this book to others since it was an emotionally drawing novel. It allows people to evaluate their own lives and actually cherish all the aspects of it because a “tragedy” like this can truly happen to anyone. This book is especially interesting once someone has had an introduction to psychology since they can understand Sally's condition in depth, however the book could be enjoyable to anyone. I would also recommend this book to others because of the fact that it is non fiction and to be more empathetic to people's struggles.

She manages to pull in elements of her own life experiences and incorporate them into her novel and characters. I personally loved the book and reread it, at points I couldn’t put it down. I could also really relate to the fact that its a girl who is a junior in high school who moves in the middle of the year, something I experienced my junior year. I would recommend this to any teenager or young adult who enjoys adventure and finding a sense of belonging in the world.

In “The New Boyfriend”, written by Kelly Link, ghost appear once again. The protagonist, Immy Imogen falls in love with a ghost that inhabits her friend, Ainslie’s, fake boyfriend, Mint. She has a large shock when she finds that it is two ghosts inside of Mint. However, the true ghost haunting Immy is not Mint, but rather her split nature. Immy is haunted by the duality of her nature, because she is both the best friend as well as the best enemy of Ainslie.
