Introduction Paragraph: Thievery, has been strictly forbidden since the ancient times. Even in the Decalogue, on the eighth, it says "Thou shall not steal." However, what about stealing for good? The laws of almost all civilazations has forbade stealing even it was for good purpose, to keep the fairness. However there are many stories like Robin hood, when the country's people are starving, a goo theif comes out to save them. I think this story is something like that. The book thief, written by Markus Zusak, tells us the power of written words. Summary: This story takes place in Germany during the two world wars. Also, that's when the book Thief starts. Character Details: Liesel Meminger. The protagonist of the story. She is an adopted young girl on the verge of adolescence, with blonde hair that "was a close enough brand of German blonde" and a "smile that was starving" when she very rarely showed it. She is fostered by the Hubermanns when her father "abandons" their family and her mother is forced to give her up as a foster child. Liesel is the "book thief". Hans Hubermann. The Fighter of World War I, accordion player, book aficionado and handyman. Husband to Rosa Hubermann, and a foster dad to Liesel. Rosa Hubermann. Leisel's stepmother. Max Vandenburg.A Jewish fist-fighter takes refuge from the Nazi regime in the Hubermann's basement. He is the son of a WWI German soldier who fought with Hans Hubermann, and the two developed a close friendship during the war. He has brown, feather-like hair and swampy brown eyes.
