Miss Misery” by Elliott Smith- This is the first track I selected, as it seems to be inspiration for at least the title of the book. The song fits very nicely with the first few chapters as David’s girlfriend, Amy, leaves for The Hague. The song has a theme similar to that of Miss Misery, but not close enough that I would say it served as inspiration for the book. “Well Respected Man” by The Kinks- I chose this song to reflect David’s view of himself at the beginning of the book. David goes on about how “responsible” he is, but the events of the book hardly reflect that. The word “responsible” seems to be a synonym for boring in David’s eyes; just like in this song. “Once in a Lifetime” by Talking Heads- This song is perfect for the exact David is trying to figure out what the dopplegänger even wants from him as he is continually harassed. At this point, David is still chasing Miss Misery and trying to hold on to everything he can, but a decision must be made. “The Pretender” by Foo Fighters- A very fitting title along with an abundance of fitting lyrics. This song serves as an extension of David’s previous realization. While “My Own Worst Enemy” shows David’s anger, “Where’s My Mind” shows his
