Music is not something new, there are artists that come out with latest hits. But do they know the history behind the lyrics that they artists are throwing across. Do they know the history of that piece? There is the song “someday soon” that if researched and listen to, there is a story behind it along with it a history. Throughout the lyrics of the song “someday soon” the words “someday soon, goin’ with him someday soon”. So, the question “will she be with him someday soon” the answer is yes because along with those repeated lines, in the lyrics of “someday soon” it says, “I would follow him right down the roughest road I know” (7), or the line “so you blow, you old blue northern, blow my love to me” (11 and 17), which can only mean that she intends on being with him. Ian Tyson, who is he? Ian Tyson is a Canadian folk singer/songwriter, though he wasn’t one in the beginning. He was in the rodeo at first and it wasn’t until his injuries from the rodeo that he started to learn the guitar. He was in the band “great speckled bird” as well as the duo “Ian and Sylvia”. Ian connects to the song “someday soon” because he had composed the song and sang it alongside his wife Sylvia, whom he met in 1961. Sylvia Tyson, as known as Sylvia Fricker, was Ian’s wife. The rodeo life is a competitive sport that has many events. These events consist of mutton busting, goat roping, ribbon roping, pole bending, steer wrestling, bullfighters, breakaway (tie-down) roping, barrel men, calf roping, barrel racing, team roping, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, and bareback bronc riding. ...odeo Association originally recognized women bronc riders, ropers and barrel racers. Now, barrel racing is the only sport that women participate in other than pageants at the National Finals Rodeo. Rodeo, as a sport, is judged overall though a point system. So even if you don’t win a single event you can still have enough points to get all around cowgirl if an individual participates and places in all events within a circuit.
We have the chance to give the future generation a gift. We can give them the answers before they encounter the questions. We can give the help theyíll need before they need it. No oneís perfect when dealing with life. Weíre only here for a short time, why not make it the best time you can? Life throws things at people and one has to be able to cope and learn to solve them as best as they can. As Rolling Stone eloquently put it, ìthe lyrics address the need to cope (Wiederhorn).î In life, people are going to encounter problems no matter how hard they try to get around them. This song recognizes that fact and addresses it. The truth seems hard to come by these days. In my life, it is something I strive to give and receive. Thereís no telling how many times one person has been lied to. Letís just not mention that whole Lewinsky thing. ìBittersweet Symphonyî donates the truth to the future. No sugarcoating or hiding of facts takes place. The lyrics say, ìtry to make ends meet youíre a slave to money then you die . . .î As life is, the song is inclusive of the good and the bad. Without the bad, how would we know of the good and vice versa? This common thread of truth connects us and the future.
At the very beginning of the song Smith sings, “Yes, I do, I believe that I will be, where I was right there, right next to you.” Implying that one day he hopes to be with the person he loves. In the past few years there have been major changes in society and in the government. Through this, I think many people have changed their views on marriage equality to become more accepting. Recently, it has become legal in all states for homosexual couples to get married. A report on CNN.com stated, “In a landmark opinion, a divided Supreme Court on Friday ruled that same-sex couples can marry nationwide, establishing a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a historic victory.”
Professional rodeo is one of the more popular equine competitions. The beginnings of rodeo can be traced back to the ranches of the early 1700’s, when the Spanish ruled the West. The Spanish cattlemen on these early ranches had duties including roping, horse breaking, riding, herding, branding, and much more. These events are now competitions in our modern day rodeos (Clark).
This I Believe – Whether I like it or not, my childhood shaped who I am today.
Lane Frost was born in La Junta, Colorado on October 12, 1963, while his dad was still competing in the rodeo circuit. Lane grew up with a desire to ride bulls. He was showing an interest in the sport as young as 5 months. His mom, Elsie Frost, said that whenever they went to rodeos Lane would always fight to stay awake to watch the bull riding. If they tried to leave before it was over, he would scream and cry and throw a huge fit (Frost 1). At the age of five Lane started riding dairy calves on the family dairy farm in Vernal, Utah. He rode calves and steers when he was younger, entering and competing in any rodeo he could. In 1978, when Lane was 15 years old, his family moved to Lane, Oklahoma. There he began to compete regularly in bull riding, and in 1981 he won the National High School Rodeo bull riding championship. Lane graduated from Atoka High school in 1982. He was offered rodeo scholarships from many different colleges, but he turned them down and decided to pursue a professional bull riding career instead...
One sport of rodeo that raises the eyebrows of many anti-rodeo activists is Team Roping. Team roping was used for the purpose of catching live cattle on the range to perform vaccinations and to treat injuries. Team Roping is defined as on cowboy ropes the steer around the horns and turn left, so that the next cowboy can come behi...
What is childhood? To some its the upbringing and quality of life given to the child within the first several years of the child's life. In its simplest form, childhood is classified as the age span which ranges from birth to adolescence. During those years of childhood, most children go through various different physical and cognitive changes. According to the famous cognitive developmental theorist Jean Piaget, in psychology, childhood consists of four separate stages of development. Those stages are sensorimotor, pre-operational, concrete operational, and formal operational stages. The sensorimotor stage extends from both to when the child first starts to grasp the concept of language. In the pre-operational stage is when the child starts
Rodeo is a sport with long American traditions and loved by many spectators and participants. Past history has shown that rodeo needed to make way for a new era of riders and trainers with a larger emphasis on the welfare of the animals and not be discontinued or banned entirely. Today’s rodeos do not present a danger to the animals because the animals are well-cared for and protected, rodeos have strict rules and the stock are treated as prized animals.
Now we examine some of the functional uses of nostalgia as well as applying them in clinical settings. The main functions of nostalgia that will be discussed include an: increase in optimism, counteracting loneliness, and maintain physiological comfort. Starting with a paper from Zhou (2008) that looked at nostalgia being used to counteract loneliness. Over the course of four studies, they hypothesized that induced nostalgia could counteract perceived social support caused by loneliness. The reported results showed that loneliness is associated with decreased perceived social support along with a reported increase in feelings of nostalgia-itself associated with increased perceived social support. This relation shows
So what will be the future for Miley Cyrus songs? Will they go through another transformation or not? Is the controversy and partying just a phase or she will stick with it? Only time will tell….for the time being Miley Cyrus songs are flirty, Miley Cyrus songs are dirty, Miley Cyrus songs are flammable and untamable. Daydreaming is a part of almost all of people’s lives at some point. Daydreaming can take place anywhere, from the home, school, work, or even when you just happen to be taking a walk. Daydreaming is something that is an immense part of my life. I function much better when I daydream momentarily. Much of the older generation may say that daydreaming isn’t productive, or that it doesn’t get you anywhere, but I believe that daydreaming allows me to be more creative and successful.
Once in our lives, we will come across having to prepare a special occasion. It is always better to know how in advance. Also, the process of preparing for special occasion might be difficult at the beginning but once you organize yourself, it will become easier. Hi, my name is Rob Geis and I am currently in grade 12. I have been at County High School for a year now; I joined at the start of 11th grade, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The school is great, the people are fantastic and the atmosphere is one that makes you actually want to go to school. Before I joined ASB I was studying at the Singapore American School for two years and prior to that I was at the International School of Kuala Lumpur for two years. I was born and raised here in Bombay city and grew up here.
I have a very fulfilling feeling about what I have been able to accomplish in my life so far. I want the absolute best for myself and those close to me. I often go above and beyond to help those around me succeed and be the best version of themselves that they can possibly be.
