Soccer is a ball sport played between two teams of eleven players. The purpose of the game is about a process between two teams to score by getting the ball into opposing goal. In order to do that, players in soccer game entail physical contact and commonly cause various kinds of injuries. Three types of the most common injuries in a soccer game are soft-tissue injury, joint injury, and bony injury. The first type of the most common injury in a soccer game is soft-tissue injury. It is a type of injury that causes overstretching of a ligament and affects to a condition where the muscle fails to relax. This type of injury often occurs during the early or late stages of the game, as a result of inadequate warm-up and poor flexibility. Soft-tissue injury mostly occurs on the thigh area. According to Thomas Reilly and A. Mark Williams (2003, 140), authors of science and soccer, “Nearly a quarter of soccer-related injuries involve the thigh, and a further 10% the groin.” Mostly they result from a quick forceful stretch of the muscle in an attempt to accelerate for the ball. The treatment of this type of injury, according to Reilly and Williams (2003, 144), “is to control haematoma formation and let the body’s mechanisms repair the damaged tissue.” …show more content…

Joint injury commonly occurs as a result of physical contact or high tackle during the game. This type of injury commonly occurs on the knee and ankle. According to Reilly and Williams (2003, 141), “17% of all injuries to soccer players occur on the knee and ankle area.” Therefore, those areas are critical and easy to injure in the soccer game. Reilly and Williams (2003, 142) describe that physiotherapist can strengthen the joint and educate the player about the importance of rehabilitation.
