Obesity has been a big problem around the world and they have to stop it. people with obesity have higher risks in getting dangerous diseases such as diabetes, higher blood pressure, cancer, heart diseases, and cholesterol. These disease may get worse and eventually may kill people that are obese. Mayor bloomberg shouldn’t find people destroying their lives by drinking that much of sugary drinks and getting bad diseases and not do anything to help them. Therefor the NYC mayor, Michael Rubens Bloomberg banned Soda cups beyond 16 oz for the following reasons; the ingredients in Sodas are really sugary and bad for health and it negatively affect people’s health, drinking a big amount of those sugary drinks will eventually cause obesity, and when …show more content…

The National Toxicity Program found “clear evidence” of 4-Mel toxicity in sodas and linked 4-Mel to infertility, thyroid dysfunction and liver and lung cancer. The soda industry doesn’t use organic sugar canes, instead they use the cheap white bleached sugar. This why sugar increases the insulin level and eventually causes high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, heart diseases, and a lot of other dangerous diseases. Sodas such as Coke and Pepsi have phosphoric acids. The phosphoric acid affect the ability of your body to absorb calcium and it soften your bones and teeth and causes osteoporosis. Some sugary drinks such as Coke, Pepsi, Redbull, Bison, Powerhorse, and Code Red have high amount of caffeine. These caffeinated drinks are related to blood pressure, irregular heart beats, and cancer. Those people who consume sugary drinks 1-2 cans per day have a 26% greater risk in getting type 2 Diabetes than people who barely drinks those drinks. Those drinks have higher risks on Asians and young adults. Those caffeinated drinks are really addictive and it is hard to be stopped. Studies said that 2 out of 3 adults and 1 out of 3 childrens in the United States are overweight or obese. A 20 ounce soda contains about 15-18 teaspoons of sugar and upward to 240 calories. The 64-ounce cola drink could have up to 700 calories. Some people who are against the soda ban said that why would the mayor bsan the sugary drinks but not the other calorated meals. Well it is proved that People who drink this sugary drinks do not feel as full as if they had eaten the same calories from solid food and do not compensate by eating less. So if people drink one can of Coke for example, they will want more cause they won’t feel as full as if they eat a hamburger. No one wants his kids to be obese and want them to live a hard life. If someone really loves soda, sugar-free drinks don’t increase the risk of obesity and it is not banned.
