Rape is sexual penetration without consent of the victim. Sixty-eight percent of sexual assault’s are not reported to the police. In today’s society, rape victims often blame themselves for behaving in a way that the perpetrator was encouraged to rape them (Reporting Rates, 2006). Some sociological questions that are raised about rape are why does it exist?, what leads one to assault a woman?, and is it just the gender’s nature? The subjects, male perpetrators, will be asked to take a survey on why they raped, why they chose the victim they chose, and what they got out of it. The independant variable is when we teach society that rape is wrong and what that would look like. The dependant variable would be the rate of rapes which is being influenced by teaching society that rape is wrong. To select the appropriate sample for the study one can get ahold of files with all the files of rape and who was guilty. After that, select a decent amount of inmates that have been chosen guilty of rate from a randomized prison, either local, state, or federal to go and talk to and fill out the survey. Then I could generalize these statements to the rest of the population and figure out what needs to be done with society today based on the reason they raped, why they chose who they chose, and what they got out of it.
There is a possibility the subjects will not want to answer why they did what they did due to it being unethical in some people’s minds. Participants privacy will be maintained at their requests and names will not be given. It will be clear that the subject’s do not have to answer to any questions that make them uncomfortable and do not want to talk about
