In society, people have their disabilities accommodated to them. For example, people who suffer from a certain health condition can have the chance to be assigned a special parking that is closer to the entrance. They are given the famous blue sign with the character on the wheel chair. The sign I chose was located in the Walmart parking lot, it’s a very well-known sign because it’s located in many different places. I found this sign intriguing because I wanted to see a different perspective on how this could be looked at. In this short essay, I will be discussing why society uses the wheelchair to represent all disabilities. This sign provides a wide definition of usage for people in wheelchairs. People with disabilities aren’t all in wheelchairs. It points out that you need to have a physical disability to be eligible for this parking. Although, many people are still able to travel to far places without getting tired. For example, if you look at the Paralympic athletes, they have a physical disability and still practice sports. The thought that individuals with physical disabilities aren’t able to make the distance of being at the back of the parking lot may be a conventional idea.
