Societal norms and sexual violence are aspects that lead to the inequality of women’s rights. “The abuse of women not only causes health issues in women, but it also violates women’s human rights, bodily integrity and their sexual as well as reproductive rights.” Since men are dominantly in power and in control of women, it does not give the opportunity for women to express how they feel about their experiences on a daily basis. Societal norms that are intertwined with a structured marriage system do not allow women to love freely. Not taken seriously within the government and police force is one thing, but being forcefully taken away by a man without say is also taking away her reproductive rights.
