Department of Agriculture was a relatively simple organization. Today, partly through the growth of science and technology, the department has sections that deal with chemistry, biology, ecology, nutrition, and so on.
2. Increase in social welfare - if we go back to the 1800s, a worker with a catastrophic injury had to rely on family, the church, or charities to survive. In the 1930, though, the social security program and welfare began. In the 1960s, we get food stamps, Medicare, and other programs to help those in need.
