Social Class: Course Analysis

In the beginning of this course I can honestly say that I had no idea what sociology meant or what it focuses on. Over the last few months I believe that I have been able to develop a strong understanding of what sociology is, and why it is important to society. I have learned sociologies purpose on topics like race, equality, gender, the environment, social class, and a few others; with this information I now have a broader outlook on what effects, and influences these topics. Finally, I believe that because of the theories, ideas, and information that I have acquired from this class I know realize my own personal place in society, and the changes that I can make that will allow me to start making more of a difference. I believe these two aspects effects who I am, because the town that I live in is not extremely rich but it would not certainly not be considered in poverty either. As a result of this, I believe that I have been given opportunities that others might not have been offered. I also believe that I was shelter from a lot of the negative things that take place in this world, which before starting college lead me to have this “ignorance is bliss” perspective on certain issues. Furthermore, even with respects to which country I was born in has influenced who I am, because in other countries there are somethings that those people experience that I will never have to. When I comes to when I am I believe that the generation I was born in, the millennials, influences who I am, because compared to my parents and my grandparents I have a much more accepting perspective on the world. times have certainly changed since my mom was in school, but I think that, although, we still have a lot of progress to make the generation I am in has an open minded view that has a more positive influence on
