The majority of the people in this world think that it doesn’t take a whole lot to play soccer. “Certain soccer players are blessed with natural ability, but even that doesn’t guarantee soccer success.” (Grahame). In order to become a good soccer player you need to work on skills such as passing, shooting, touch, communication, attitude, and most of all fitness. Soccer can be a very hard sport to play if soccer players aren’t coordinated very well with the ball it makes the sport very hard and not fun. “You don’t need to be the most skillful or stylish player on the field to succeed in the game.” (Grahame). For formations there can only be 11 players on the field, usually a typical formation is a 4-4-2 which means four defenders and four attacking minds and 2 forwards. There are different varieties of formation such as a 4-3-3, and a 3-5-2 the first number of a formation means defense and the second number means midfielder’s and the third number means forwards. There are four positions in soccer, they’re goal keeper, defense, midfield, and forward. The GoalKeeper’s job is to not let goals in the goal, and to also help organize he's defense. The defender’s objective is to stop the opponents offense from scoring, they play in the back of the field. Midfielder’s normally play in the central part of the field, they create a lot of plays, and this is probably one of the hardest positions in the game because it requires a lot of endurance running up and down the field. There are several different shots a soccer can do, the most common shot is performed with using the laces of the boot for more stabilized powerful shot, and another type would be called Finesse. The Finesse shot is a less powerful shot but the most accurate type of shot. many people may recall David Beckham’s free kick “Bend it like Beckham!” That is a famous quote people say because when he took his free kick he used a finesse shot, it causes the ball to sort of curve if you hit it right. Another one would be a volley, which is when the ball come down from the air and the player connects his foot with the ball, it usually tends to be a pretty powerful, but less accurate shot. Soccer players have to believe in their ability to score goals, and take risks.
