The basic soccer fundamentals are a major key to succeeding in the sport. Learning how to receive a ball, or passing and shooting the correct way allows someone to play at a higher level. When reaching that higher level, you need a technique called “deep practice.” Deep practice is learning from the mistakes you make and trying to perfect them. In doing this, you learn the basics easier and better through every step. As a method, one should use deep practice when playing soccer because it will help you learn the game, it will teach you the basics, and it will help you outside of the sport. When playing a sport for the first time you take a while to learn the basics, before going into learning how to do tricks, or understanding the actual game. The basics of soccer are understanding how …show more content…
From watching others play, you may pick up some techniques or key moves. It helps to do everything yourself also, and from asking for assistance, then trying it yourself you get the real experience. Another way of learning the game of soccer is just going out and playing. When you are on the field with other teammates you watch what they do, and once you see them, you try to copy and eventually get the hang of the sport. In project 2, one of the girl’s was practicing a trick. Her trick was called the rainbow, and her task was to place the ball on the ground, and with one of her feet in front of the ball and the other sideways of the ball. With your feet, between the ball, you would lift it up the back of your calf and with the opposite foot, you would kick the ball over your head hitting it on the back of your heel. In project one, this similar task was done by Brunio from “The Sweet Spot”. Brunio used the deep practice when he was attempting this trick he would take the time to focus and slow down. As he noticed errors, he would perfect them making this his expertise and more of an accomplished

The FIFA survey continues to prove that soccer, A.K.A. football, is the world’s #1 sport. There are about 240 million people in the world that play soccer from more than 200 countries. It is one of the most popular sports in the world that many people play now. It does take some time to learn the sport but, it shouldn’t be hard to learn it if you have the time and, put in a lot of effort.
In Daniel Coyle’s, The Talent Code he studies talent and tries to explain how people become talented by going to several “talent hotspots”(12). In the chapter, “The Sweet Spot”, Coyle explains that people who struggle to do something “increase their learning velocity” (5-16). By struggling to do something you are more likely to learn faster. Coyle calls this method of training “deep practice” (16). Coyle tries to explain this deep practice by giving many examples of people who have unknowingly used this method before. For example, Coyle visited Brazilian soccer players to learn about how they became talented playing soccer. He finds out that they play a unique Minigame called futebol de Salao which is like soccer, but in a confined area where
The adult soccer goal is 24 feet long by 8 feet high, and the penalty shot, which is the shot I will be using in order to keep a constant spot, is 12 yards away from the back of the goal. The independent factors of the experiment are the different angles of the shot. Dependent factors would be the number of goals scored. The controls of the experiment are the size of the goal, soccer ball type, soccer ball size and weight, temp in the gym, kicking surface, and the method of measurement. Variables that will affect the experiment are force, speed, velocity, and most importantly, experience.
Growing up in El Salvador, soccer was a sport that significantly impacted my childhood. My cousins and uncles taught me how to play soccer, as well as various techniques that would later benefit me on the soccer field. At the age of seven I started to play for one of most well-known soccer clubs in El Salvador. Practicing twenty three hours a week was really paying off, as I could see in my medal and trophy gain. Not only did they represent my accomplishments, but they also gave joy to my teammates, community, and family because they were the people who encouraged me to give my best. Playing soccer was also a way to release stress because when my family was going through hardships, it was easier for me to let all of my negative energy on the
The coaches had us to do drills run a lap and do a lot of other soccer training skills. I didn't know if I could make it through all the skills training because they were really hard and I didn't know any of the drills. All
In soccer, there are no time outs and little stoppage of play, so communication with coaches is limited. For a team to play well, each player must know what they need to do on and off the field. The objective of a soccer team is very simple; score and do not let your opponents score. When your team has the ball, every player already knows to help the person who has the possession of the ball to score. As soon as the ball is lost to the opponent,
In a soccer game there are two teams of 11 players who try to score a point by kicking a ball into the opponents net. Soccer is played on a rectangular field with a net on each short side of the field. All players must hit the ball with their feet or body and only the goalie is allowed to touch the ball with his/her hands. There are many things you can do to condition yourself to play.
Coyle describes that deep practice can apply to everyone. Also, he uses many extreme examples to show deep practice can be used in a variety of ways. For example, in “The Sweet Spot”, Coyle voices examples including, a Brazilian boy trying to learn a tough soccer move, a Texan girl trying to sing a song better, and the pilot training simulator that Edwin Link invented to help pilots of the U.S. Army Air Corps learn how to fly. Further, deep practice increases problem solving skills and makes a person think smarter. By focusing on what the person is not doing well, he or she is problem solving, trying to fix the problem and fixing the problem makes it a skill. Thus, struggling is an integral part of deep practice. Deep practice is an unexpected way of learning because people learn from their mistakes. Mistakes are the opposite of how they are normally thought of. Mistakes are good and actually lead to a better outcome. Talent is an achievement that can be created by deep
During practice optimal motivation and excitement need to be given to players to not only insure they progress in their skill aptitude, but also to make the environment fun, creative, and innovative for all athletes involved. Martens specifically describes the “flow experience” as an “optimal” time where players aren’t too anxious or under motivated to perform (Martens, 108). Coaches can heed this advice by planning light, medium, and intense exercise drills, changing the modes of exercise, changing the environment, or through utilizing the teaching principle called the “games approach” (Martens, 154). If the “games approach” is used then the monotony of training will decrease because fun tactical activities based around in game situations will be used instead of repetitive technique drills that often bore players and inspire them to quit a sport early in season. Shaping of play with different teammates or rules, focusing of play through freeze play drills, and enhancing play through different techniques are all effective ways to utilize the games approach to improve tactical sport awareness (Martens, 156). For instance, instead of practicing soccer free kicks repeatedly, the players could do 3 on 3 games utilizing half of the field, they could limit the game to midfield and freeze at times to see whoever gets the most
Soccer is an attention-grabbing sport and it can be easily played. All you need are shoes and a soccer ball. Other sports you would need a hoop or a field and soccer is more easily played. There are hundreds of soccer stadiums in Europe and other nations of the world.
The are a lot of people that play soccer but not all of them know how to dribble the ball properly. These steps will help you dribble correctly. First you must bend your foot where your shoelaces are directly facing the ball. Next you have to touch the ball with your shoelace over, over, and over. Once you master this try moving in a straight line with your shoelace. After this try to keep dribbling with the ball but going around in circles by cutting in with your foot that is pushing the ball, then center your foot back on the ball. Next buy/or use some cones and try to dribble the ball through inside and outside the cones. After that try to start juggling so that your ball touch is improved. So you want to start by grabbing the ball in your
My intent is to properly explain how to play a sport the different things that are required to play any the many sports out there. Learning a sport takes time, and the ability to be coachable in whatever sport you might do. In every sport your coach gives you tips on how to improve on different attributes that may help you better yourself as an athlete. These tips that are given and learned, help improve the overall ability that you have in the sport. In learning these skills you are cognitive, associative, and autonomous which help you the skills you learned and use them effectively. These theories all have something to do with process of learning that takes place in any sport played.
The European Football, or soccer, as Americans call it, is simply known as football. It is a sport played between two teams of eleven players with a sphere-shaped ball. It is played by 250 million players in over 200 countries, making it the world’s most popular sport. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end.
