Vancouver’s “Snow Angels” busy in brutal winter weather
Issue that had affected older adults
During the winter season in Vancouver last December, seniors with limited mobility found it challenging to shovel the snow on their sidewalks. This also has made it very difficult for seniors to leave their house if the snow on the pavement is not cleared. Seniors particularly for those riding scooters, wheel chairs, use of canes, or walkers had found the road too slippery to travel on (Figure 1). With the help of the Snow Angel Program there were volunteers that would come in to help anyone that needed assistance of clearing the ice and snow around their area. Figure 1: This is a picture of a person in a scooter stopping on the sidewalk as the person finds it too difficult to proceed forward in their scooter with the un-shoveled sidewalk.

Furthermore, the health care facility should implement changes in their care to help reunite senior couples. The policy-makers within the health care facility should be involved to make more facility for senior couples to stay together.
What needs to happen to prevent this from happening in the future?
To prevent the separation of senior couples, there should be a variety of health care providers hired at the same health facility that can handle the different level of care the seniors may need. Also have the choice of home care taker that can provide care to seniors in their own home instead of placing them into home care. Another proposal is to build more residential care that allows couples to live together even though they may not require the same care because for them being together is a priority as
