Snoop Dogg is a talented musician, hip hop artist and icon who is known within rap music and beyond with people across the world. Snoop Dogg was born on Oct 20, 1971 as Calvin Cordozar Broadus. The nickname Snoop Dogg came from his mother because she thought he looked like Snoopy from the Peanuts cartoon. Snoop Dogg had some early struggles with the law, in 1990 he was convicted of a felony drug possession for sale and he was in and out of jail for three years. As a child he always loved music, he like to rap, sing and play the piano. He was discovered by Dr Dre in 1992 and shortly after he released his debut album Doggystyle. Since then he has released over 10 albums, he’s been nominated for over 60 awards and has won 27 of them. He has succeeded so well with his music that he even branched out to Hollywood with small roles in movies and his reality TV show. These days he still goes by the name Snoop Dogg but with his years of experience he has gained the new name of Uncle Snoop. …show more content…

My favorite song by Snoop Dogg is “WHO AM I” from his first album Doggystyle. I would hear this and all of his other songs played at family parties and picnics. Snoop Dogg was first debut on Dr Dre’s deep cover album and a year later at 19, Snoop Dogg came out with his first solo album. Snoop Dogg is important because he was a part of the West Coast Rap scene with Dr Dre, Tupac and others and created the “G Funk” sound. The G Funk sound that Snoop Dogg helped create was mostly influenced by George Clinton’s P Funk.
