This generation views church and worship differently from others. Young adults like contemporary music, the use of media and images, congregational involvement, informality, and the use of different styles and formats of service from week to week. They minor on the sermon, tradition, structure and order. They desire teaching that they can relate to and is relevant to their lives from real preachers. In short, young adults are looking for worship that is real for them, enthusiastically led, relationally based, and varied.

Students need adults/youth leaders who will show them “how” to engage in the basic spiritual disciplines like prayer, meditation, fasting, and study. If we want our young people to spread the good news, I believe we must make sure they know it themselves. Relationships are the key to reaching young adults.
The importance of small groups - whether off-site home groups or on-site Sunday School classes - in reaching and keeping young adults. It can be adult led, or it can be led by young people with leadership potential, or a combination of both. We could organize the young people into a few small cell groups of about 8 people in each, led by two young people. They could meet in their homes and follow a set program. They would keep the leader updated as to how each session went, any problems or any things to praise God for. Each session would follow a format of welcome, worship, word, and witness. Cell groups could meet each week, with one week in the month them all coming together for a cell celebration event. The goal of the Urban Youth Model is to use relationship building as a tool to build evangelistic bridges to the non-Christians and unchurched youth. Students participate in roller blading, volleyball, basketball and rock climbing. These activities are used to provide a non-threatening environment to the unchurched. The student leaders will use this program as an opportunity to invite students to attend the Sunday evening program.
