Recommended: Life of a plantation slave

Slave Life on the Southern Plantation Why was there slavery? Well slaves had to go through a lot. Many slave owners treated slaves badly because they considered slaves inferior to white people. Slaves had different roles. Some worked in the fields, and some worked inside the house. Slaves had punishments and rewards. This was slave life on the Southern Plantations. Many slaves had to work on the fields. On document three it shows a picture of the “Oklahoma Cotton Field.” It was taken in 1897. It reflected the conditions of the African Americans. In document one it talked about a person called Solomon Northrup. He recorded his experiences about being captured and sold into slavery in the book “Twelve Years of Slave”
