The world now is getting hotter, which will affect our skin, skincare is essential to ensure that skin protected from excessive UV rays. The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary (2015) defines skincare as the use of creams and special products to look after the skin. Skincare is important not only for women but for men as well as facial skin exposed to the sun without protection faces is much risk.
Having a clearer complexion and smoother skin is one of the advantages for the men. But not all the men know the right techniques to take care of their skin. Here are few of basic steps that men need to understand and follow to help them to get best skin of their life. Before purchasing a skincare products, they need to recognise their skin type. Bank (2016) pointed out simple way to check their skin type by doing the tissue test, after washing their face. The observation on the facial tissue will determine skin type where it sentitive, oily or combination skin.
Knowing one’s skin type will make easier for the men to choose the skincare products. They should have their own products and not just share products with their sister or girlfriend. The reason men should have their own skincare product is because men have more oil glands in their skin and rugged skin. According to Reed (2016), exfoliating is “the process of removing the dead skin cells from the body”. Exfoliating is good for the skin but it can cause dangerous effects when done too much. Over exfoliating will remove too much top of the skin layer and weaken the barrier function that the skin has. Johnson (as cited in Teen, 2014) states that the skin is likely to be exposed to environmental toxins and sun damage which can cause aging to the skin when the top of the skin layer is removed.
