The mathematician we chose is Sir Isaac Newton. He was born in Whoolsthorpe Manor, United Kingdom on January 4, 1643. He died March 31, 1727 at Kensington, London, United Kingdom. He attended the college Trinity College, Cambridge. Isaac Newton didn’t have a famous mentor that taught him all his knowledge. When he was three years old, his mother remarried and moved away, leaving Isaac in the care of his grandmother. Sometimes called the father of modern science, Isaac Newton revolutionized our understanding of our world. He was a real Renaissance man with accomplishments in several fields, including astronomy, physics and mathematics. Isaac Newton was very religious, he often wrote down the sins he had committed and would feel bad for committing …show more content…

His famous story about gravity came from when he saw an apple fall from a tree in his garden. Isaac Newton was named the Lucasian professor of mathematics at Cambridge in 1669. Newton was a very known and wealthy man, when he passed away in 1727 the nation mourned his death. He was buried in the famous state of Westminister Abbey where monarchs such as Elizabeth the first and Charles the second are buried. After suffering a severe pain in his abdomen, he blacked out and never regained consciousness. Isaac Newton is considered to be the greatest and smartest mathematician in history. He also had three siblings. He had a very unhappy childhood which is why he had a very secretive personality. Isaac Newton had many fierce rivalries during his lifetime. In 1705 he was knighted by Queen Anne and started to become a household name. Timeline: April 1686 Isaac Newton presents the first book of the Principia to the Royal Society. He invented the reflecting telescope sometimes called Newtonian telescope. The reflecting telescope using a single or a combination of curved mirrors that reflects light and forms an image. Isaac Newton did not invent the reflecting telescope to find new things in the universe, he invented it so he can show us how we humans see the world. Isaac Newton was a very smart man he knew a lot about science, math and physics. He was the one to discover gravity. Newton gave us new theories on gravity, planetary motion and optics. He was the one who invented the three laws of motion and the Gravitation. The three laws of motion, the first law states that a human body or object at rest will remain at rest, and a body at motion will remain at motion with the same velocity. Newton’s second law of motion states that a force acting on a body is equal to the acceleration of that body times its mass. He also discovered the formula F = ma, where F is the force in Newton’s, m is the mass of the body in kilograms, and a is the acceleration in meters per second per second. Newton’s third law of motion states with every action there is an equal amount of action and opposite reaction. For example, if one body exerts a force F on a second body, the first body also undergoes a force of the same strength but in the opposite
