The purpose of Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards, is to

convince and assure Puritans that they are nothing to god. The text mentions religious beliefs

like hell and God from the Puritan faith thus the target audience of this text are any religious

affiliated persons with the Puritan faith. Periodically the text uses pathos, logos, ethos and

loaded language to get the message that God is greater than people and can choose their fate at

anytime. To demonstrate the use of pathos the Edward makes the audience feel worthless,

vulnerable, and frightened of God. For instance Edward tells us that we may be big and able to

crush a worm and just like that God can crush us and send us to the pit of hell. To
