Simone Roberts Writing Assignment #1 March 6, 2016 The Coming of Age Question #1 In The Coming of Age, Simone de Beauvoir reflects her interest in the process of aging and the examination of society’s insignificance towards the elderly. De Beauvoir tried to find greater understanding of other’s opinion of elders and the transitioning process of humans from a young age into old age. She provides accurate and interesting points about the disengagement theory of aging. She spoke about the cultural conditionings and influences that have a major impact on our society as we age. The life course perspective looks at our chronological age, certain roles and behaviors, experiences, and our characteristic. It is also analyzes the development of human behavior, physical contexts and social change that is shaped by our lifetime experiences.
