Similarities that exist between Katniss and Prometheus is that they are both brave, smart, intelligent, have good thinking way, and they both want to help people. Throughout time humans have struggled with the unknown, with the fear that once life is over nothing remains, that the only thing awaiting them is oblivion. To combat these fears we create various religions, belief systems, and faiths to reassure ourselves that we are not shouting into the void, that something will come out of our existence. Prime examples of these belief systems are Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism which emphasize a spiritual world. In dystopian novels, characters are often placed in situations without faith or religion such as The Giver by Lois Lowry, and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the removal of faith forces characters to rely solely on themselves and helps depict the hopelessness in their world. The erasure of faith leads one to believe that it is a selling point of our society and should be kept intact, which is why Octavia Butler’s use of religion is odd in the genre. In Butler’s novel Parable of the Sower the narrator Lauren Oya Olamina creates a new religion called Earthseed and aims to offer her society hope for the future while they suffer the corruption and disintegration of the only world they know. Parable of the Sower states the function of religion, and specifically Earthseed, is to unite people in a single hope as the world goes to hell.

The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins tells the story of Katniss Everdeen, and how her life changes when her little sister is reaped into the games, but she volunteers for her and unknowingly rebels against the government. Even though Katniss and Montag both defy their governments in different ways, they both have a negative view on the higher power.

‘The Odyssey’ by Homer, ‘The Aeneid’ by Virgil and ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee were written in different eras, were produced for different audiences and contain heroes which displayed different beliefs. Though produced in different time periods, the narratives share some striking similarities and resemblances. They focus on male heroes, typically who are (in some way) more inclined compared to the ‘average mortal’. Atticus is very intelligent, Aeneas is a great leader and Odysseus is remarkably courageous; all three narratives deal with the trials, challenges and achievements of the hero.
Both of them risked their lives for loved ones. They also had basically wars in the games it is Capitol vs Districts and in Romeo and Juliet it is Montague - Capulet feud. They both are star - crossed lovers. In both books and movies there were many deaths. I didn’t really see any comparison between The Hunger Games and Romeo and Juliet before but then I found many things that are similar. The things I would change would be that there was a lot of deaths so I would shorten the amount of deaths. I felt that Peeta has done a lot of things for Katniss so she should repay Peeta of the kind deeds he has done. I didn’t really like how he joined hands with the Careers even though he was saving Katniss he should have thought of something else to protect Katniss. Even though I want Katniss and Peeta to survive and win the game I think it was unfair that only on district can win. I thought that if it was 2 different people it would have been fair to the people who was fighting on their own since their partner already died. The book would have been better if Peeta told Katniss how he felt the moment he realized he loved
Equality invented something that no ones ever seen before. He built something to make a difference in society and to brighten the world, light. Light is what he invented and it was a miracle when it worked. Another similarity between Equality and Prometheus was their sacrifices for their values. No matter what circumstances they both went through, they stuck with it and did not give up because they believed that they could make a difference in society. They did not want to give up because it was something that they believed they could do to make the world a better place for themselves and others. They both take place in a dark and futuristic world and have a leader or leaders that they must follow and if not, there must be extreme consequences...even death. As Equality and Liberty fall in love, so do Katniss and Peeta. In my opinion, a dystopian society is a lot like our world today, just at a more drastic level. Dystopian literature is basically giving us advice through another teenagers perspective. It is an indirect form of advice that could be anything to with love, conflicts with other people, or even things like school. We learn a lot about oppression in both of these stories which causes us to really think about it and makes us look into the future to see what it will be like in reality.
