The Inaugural Address and The Four Freedoms speech President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) and President John F. Kennedy (JFK) were both very inspirational people who gave important speeches during their presidency. These men both wrote about their own ideas in each speech they presented. The speech from Roosevelt’s “Four Freedoms” and Kennedy’s “Inaugural Address” both write of their own beliefs of freedom, and their purposes. Although during Roosevelt’s time in 1941 the situation was different from Kennedy’s situation, because Roosevelt was entering WWII and Kennedy was in a cold war. President Roosevelt was an amazing man living a very productive life. During his presidency in 1941 he made a speech called the “Four Freedoms” speech advocating to put a stop to the enemies that had attacked other counties that were possibly ruining the democracy that America held. “... the American people began to visualize what the downfall of democratic nations might mean to our own democracy.”(10) Roosevelt wrote about how the other …show more content…

Although Roosevelt’s way of enacting this vision was going to war because the safety of America was at risk and America’s people had to fight back for what they believe in. Kennedy also had a different way of going about this. He was in a cold war but he was still going toward a safe country. He made a speech about how if America kept all the weapons they had it could be a danger but even without it if Americans stay united the enemy will not be able to defeat them. Both JFK and FDR were amazing people, who did great service for their country. Both aiming for freedom and security they went for what they wanted with the citizens agreement.
