All through history, explorers have been discovering new things and new places. Often these discovers were not on purpose but rather by accident. In these early days the only way to communicate was to write it down while it was happening and when you arrive back home if you returned you then got it delivered to where you wanted to. During these great travels there were many things that were seen and not written but many were. Some of these explorers even have countries named after them and many other great things. Some of the greatest well known are Columbus, Amerigo and John Cabot.

Amerigo Vespucci was the one whose name was given to turn the New World into America. Amerigo was an explorer who supposing reached the mainland of America about 14 months before Columbus. In Amerigos first letter describing America, he tells of large numbers of naked natives who would showed great fear of them. As Amerigo traveled on down the coast in search of a bay for his boat and his crew he encountered more natives who were more friendly and willing to mingle with them. He described the natives as beautiful and very handsome. He told of how strong and how very good swimmers the men as well as the women were. Amerigo later tells of a group of natives who ate their enemies, whether they were women or men they ate them all. He later found a village natives who ate iguanas for their food and kept them in sheds tied. He begins to fight with them and take captives to present to the king. This is a letter from Amerigo Vespucci to the king in the year 1497. I know very little about Amerigo except that the word America came from him.
