"A work of literature must provide more than factual accuracy or vivid physical reality... it must tell us more than we already know." - E. M. Forster. This quote means that the work of literature is more defined and tells us a deeper concept than we already would know. Many other, including I, agree with this quote from E. M. Forster. This quote is true in the books Beowulf and The Great Gatsby because they both provide events and themes that you wouldn't think would happen. These two books also have irony, setting, and conflict to support this quote.

In Beowulf, which is actually a poem, the main character in the story is Beowulf. He is the strongest and most brave war hero that slays any monster. "Nor have I seen a mightier man-at-arms on this earth than the one standing here: unless I am mistaken, he is truly noble. This is no mere hanger-on in a hero's armour." (244-251). In this quote, his appearance gives off this impression that he is real in what he say and do and everyone can tell he is a hero just by looking at him. In the Anglo-Saxon times, honor, bravery and loyalty were very important morals. Beowulf and Wiglaf showed loyalty in this poem by sticking to their word. Beowulf killed all the monsters and also risked his life. Wiglaf sticks by Beowulf side when he knew that his king were struggling to kill the dragon. The battles between the monsters and the clear descriptions give the poem a more vivid approach and gives the audience bold
