Recently, 7th graders have been learning about Ancient Rome. You may not know, but Modern U.S and Ancient Rome have several similarities and differences. From history, Modern U.S has learned the mistakes made and has avoided them for no fall. Because Modern U.S and Ancient Rome have many similarities and differences, the lessons from Ancient Rome could help the U.S to avoid the fall and collapse that rome experienced. Modern U.S and Ancient Rome have many similarities within military strategies. In both Modern U.S and Ancient Rome, the battle formations are very similar. U.S learned some of the strategies from Rome and made sure not to include the mistakes they made in Rome with battle formations. Some battle formation ideas that U.S used from Ancient Rome are staying together in groups, and using shields around the outside and above the group. Also, in both Modern U.S and Ancient Rome, the armies were and are very spread out across the known world. There are U.S military bases in other countries around the known world. In Ancient Rome, they fought to be the ruler of the country. For example, the ruler Julius Caesar from 49-44 B.C destroyed the bridge built for 4,000 people and horses to walk on to cross the river, and then he took the throne to be the ruler. On the other hand, in Modern U.S, we elect and vote for rulers/presidents of the country. Recently, in Modern U.S we elected Donald Trump to be our president. There were two people trying to be president but Donald Trump won with more votes so now he is our president. Finally, the rulers/presidents of Ancient Rome, and Modern U.S rule differently than each other. They each have different government types and that makes the ruler different in how they rule.
