The Holocaust and The Armenian genocide seem to be very similar in a lot of ways while learning in English class. Hopefully you will see the similarities and differences. Some background information about the Holocaust is that over two million Jews were murdered and it was mass murder. Also, the Armenian genocide was closely related to the same thing. In the genocide there was mass murder with millions also being killed too. So with that being said let me begin (The Holocaust)
Hitler did a lot to gain power and the things he said worked so people who didn’t want to face death decided that they should listen.More differences is that the Nazis had more than one type of group, for example the SS was part of the Nazis. They were more powerful than just a regular Nazi. In the decade after he was released from prison in which he was imprisoned for treason, Hitler took advantage of the weakness of his rivals to enhance his party’s status and rise from obscurity to power. On January 20, 1933, he was named chancellor of Germany. After President Paul von Hindenburg’s death in 1934, Hitler anointed himself as “Fuhrer,” becoming Germany’s supreme ruler (The History Place). A lot of the stuff that Hitler did was nothing like how The Armenian Genocide went down or happened.
Now the similarities for how the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust are the same. Another thing to end this paper is that while studying about the genocide you notice that the genocides were never really talked about as much as the holocaust was and that should be changed because people need to know about the genocides and what happen in them. Everyone knows the holocaust was wrong but people don’t know nearly as much about the genocides as they should so that’s something that should change. The term genocide brings awful things to mind. For most, it probably directs their attention towards the Holocaust; this was definitely a gruesome and obvious example of genocide, but there are many others with great similarities that are not very well known. One of these is the decimation of the Native American population by the European settlers and the atrocious things that were done to them such as the trail of tears following the Indian Removal Act of 1830 during the settling of North America. The Holocaust might be the most well known but there have been many other incidents in history just as abhorrent. The Holocaust and Native American Genocide are different in weapons used and the motives for killing but similar in intent, effects and selection of the persecuted.

Adolf Hitler came into power of Germany in 1934. Wanting power, land and revenge, Hitler gets troops ready to attack. Hitler was a troop in WWI for Germany. Once the Germans lost the war, Hitler took that personally, and wanted revenge. After coming into power with his army of Nazis, Hitler is quick to blame Jewish people for all the harsh debt and corruption in Germany. The Germans believe him, causing them to hate Jewish people. The holocaust happened throughout 1933-1945, it ended when Hitler killed himself.
The Jews had laws manipulated to remove and strip them of their rights. These laws were the Nuremberg laws. Of course these two horrible tragedies aren't entirely the same but in some similarities they do compare such as, how horrendous the SS guards treated the Jewish men and woman. They murdered innocent families and the ones who surrendered would be held captive in what they called Concentration Camps. Many Jewish families tried hiding and escaping during this time and some in the end were able to get to a safe area like Yang and her family. By promising the people security that meant that he would keep them all safe and that he can do a better job than anyone else. Adolf Hitler increased in support from bankers and industrialists. So, pretty much he had most of the people who had higher power on his side durning this time period. This is what Hitler did to the six million Jews during the Holocaust, which led to many Jews fighting back. This paper will talk about how the Holocaust victims fought back against Hitler and his army. Anyone who believes that the Holocaust was not a form of genocide is misleading and to prevent it from happening again, people should do research. The Holocaust in fact was one of the largest cases of genocide, but this is the one where nearly 11 million people, not just Jews, were brutally murdered.
Firstly, they both fall under the correct definition of a genocide. Both occurred on a massive scale, destroying entire generations of people, leaving a horrible legacy. There are many places where the two genocides are similar, however, there are major differences. The aim of the Holocaust was an “ethnic cleansing” of Jews and other undesirables, total extermination was the goal of the Hitler and the Nazi party. Genocide became an official state policy and was run in a very pragmatic manner under heavy state control. It was direct and focused extermination, exemplified by the concentration camps. Millions upon millions of people were killed in the holocaust, that is just one of many genocides. There are many similarities between different genocides. Throughout history, many aggressors have started and attempted genocides and violence on the basis of someone being the "other".
What is genocide? “Genocide is a deliberate, systematic destruction of racial cultural or political groups.”(Feldman 29) What is the Holocaust? “Holocaust, the period between 1933-1945 when Nazi Germany systematically persecuted and murdered millions of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and many other people.”(Feldman 29) These two things tie into each other.The Holocaust was a genocide. Many innocent people were torn apart from their families, for many never to see them again. The Armenian genocide was the first genocide of Modern World History, but it was not the first time the world saw an ethnic and religious group angry with and persecuting another. The Armenian genocide is special because it was the first time the world saw mass slaughter being planned and executed by government officials. This deliberate slaughter of Armenians has been the focus of many because of its unique persecution of a single ethnic group and the fact that the Turkish government still denies its existence. Although the Armenian genocide took place in the Middle East, it has impacted the entire world. The Armenian genocide happened during World War I. Most known genocides have happened during times of war, because most of the world or the population of the country is so focused on the war, so they do not notice the mass killings going on in their country or in other countries.
