The hero’s journey is a narrative pattern created by Jospeh Campbell. The hero’s journey can appear in drama, storytelling, myth, religious rituals, and even psychological development. It outlines the typical adventure of “The Hero” this person goes out and achieves great deeds on behalf of civilization. The hero’s journey will start with the hero living in their ordinary world and will go all the way through their return from their mission. The Silence of the Lambs has a perfect plot that goes along with the criteria of the heroes journey. The movie starts with Clarice in her ordinary world, she is currently training for the FBI, as the movie starts with Clarice running through the FBI obstacle course. In the middle of this she receives a message that Crawford would like to see her, little does she know that her Call to adventure is about to begin. She doesn’t know what to except and if Lecter will even talk to her. Clarice has obviously learned and heard about Lecter, but this will be her first real encounter with him. The ultimate goal is to try and get Lecter to talk because Clarice and the FBI are on the hunt for Buffalo Bill. They believe trying to understand Lecter and how and why he did what he did they will be able to understand Buffalo Bill better, and find Buffalo Bills true identity. While this process is going on the tension rises for the FBI when the daughter of the Tennessee governor is abducted. This puts a lot more pressure on Claire to try and get Lecter to talk. We soon learn the true meaning of the title “The Silence of the Lambs” when we learn about Clarice’s past, she was orphaned at a young age and raised on a farm. The screaming of the lambs haunted her. Now, she has to overcome this and save the abducted innocent girl. Clarice overcomes her past and continues with her
