Summary: This article is about whether we should all celebrate Columbus Day or not. This year’s Columbus Day celebrations varied, some people celebrated it like Virginia but other states like California mostly didn't celebrate it. People who believe Columbus was a hero said that we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him and others say that he is a disgrace because of the actions that he did. There is a strong debate over Christopher Columbus's journey. But when you look at Columbus in the big picture of history, you can see today’s anti-Columbian fury because of what he did but some people believe the Columbus was a great man because he stumbled upon the Americas.

Issue: The issue is weather everybody should celebrate a day dedicated to Christopher Columbus or not bother because of what he did during his journey. Some people believe that he is a disgrace because of what he did during his journey and others think the opposite. …show more content…

Christopher Columbus was an adventurer who made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. But he happened to have stumbled upon the Americas. Columbus was a hard worker meaning he should be remembered for not only the Americas but because of how dedicated he was to his journey. In what has become known as the Columbian Exchange, Columbus’ voyages enabled the exchange of plants, animals, cultures, ideas (and, yes, disease) between the Western and Eastern Hemispheres.
