Should Sign Language Be Bilingual?

Sign language should be taught in schools. The earlier kids learn it the better so it will stick with them forever. Also, if it wasn’t taught children wouldn’t be able to communicate with their family or friends and vise versa. More than 5% of the world is hearing impaired and have a harder time trying to figure out what people were and saying. Moreover, do you ever think how cool it would be to be bilingual?

“It is still uncommon for someone who isn't deaf to be fluent in ASL. ” As you can see, this means out of our 7 billion people on this planet only about only a little more than 360 million people know sign language. That makes is so much more difficult for the people with hearing disabilities to do things, because they they need translators but there is not enough people who know ASL to do those jobs. “With that in mind, it becomes a bit easier to realize how prevalent disabling hearing loss is both worldwide and in the U.S.” After all, the world is cut off from these people not because we want to but because we can talk to to them. We have no way to talk to them sometimes so they keep to themselves which creates that barrier. “If the concept of being able to have basic communication between two groups of people does not convince you that we need to teach ASL in our classrooms, think of the intellectual and social benefits children will get from learning ASL on a personal level.” Finally, when a student is able to learn ASL it further their education and there is a possibility to make the kinder because they know what people go through with this. If you do offend someone and try to fix it the same thing could happen again and you wouldn’t even know it. “So if something happens where a wrist were sprained or something of that sort, it disables that person from talking.” Also, when a an injured wrist occurs it makes is so difficult to have any conversations. When that happens people aren’t able to say what they need or want, they need to be able to read lips instead of signing. “Not everyone learns to speak ASL when having a deaf relative or friend, or even classmate/acquaintance, so without it-deaf people are often trapped and secluded.” Last but not least, it is very difficult for some people to learn it making it hard to speak to people with hearing disabilities. Also, when kids are trying to learn it, this takes hard work and a lot of time which some kids are willing to put in so they just don't do
