Is your kid receiving too much homework to where it takes away from your family time, sleep, and causes stress? Well we have a solution, less homework. Students should receive less homework because it affects the life and health of a student. Ways that we can give your kids life back to them is to give them more time to do the assignment so they don’t rush to do something that they aren’t proud of. Also, teachers need to be more understanding that we have school five days a week and we do have families that would love to spend time with their kids but can’t because of homework, a few homework assignments won’t kill your kid but more than three takes time away. Also, if a teacher takes their time teaching the lesson then kids may understand the material a lot better. …show more content…
The only family time they may have is eating dinner which the child has to rush to eat so that it can get their homework done. If the child has to stay up in their room doing homework then they miss the funny family moments and they don’t get a chance to tell anyone how their day was. The solution to this problem is to only give 2 subjects a day so that the child doesn’t feel to overwhelmed or rush through it and not do it to the best of their
Healthline.com has said that “Students in high achieving neighborhoods who spend too much time on homework have more health problems, stress, and alienation from society.” Being sick of school is one thing, but when school is making you sick because of the homework you have now is bad. Elementary kids having physical problems just from homework can eventually lead to other possible problems down the road. These problems include substance abuse, becoming a high school dropout, and possibly death by suicide. So why risk a student’s life for a few homework
Many parents are also bothered over the force of homework on the connection between their kids and teens.... ... middle of paper ... ... Think about how much homework we’ve done since we were in kindergarten, how many times we’ve stayed up and woke up half-awake, how many times we’ve kept others awake, and how much paper we’ve wasted. If you think that is a lot, think of all of the students around the world doing the same.
I strongly believe that students should not be assigned homework or just the bare minimum, teachers do not sometimes comprehend that students are enrolled in six different classes that are each give it at least an hour of homework. Studies have shown that 80 percent say they frequently or sometimes experience daily stress, 34 percent have felt depressed at some point in the past three months, 13 percent have been diagnosed with a mental health condition such as an anxiety disorder or depression, 9 percent have seriously considered suicide in the past year.So if a teenager is at school for roughly 8 hours, and they are doing homework for six or more hours, and they need at least about nine hours of sleep for their developing brains, and they may have 0 to 1 for other activities like eating, bathing, excersing, socializing (Which is actually incredibly for emotional, mental, and psychical health, as well as the development of skills vital to their future career and having healthy romantic relationships among other things), religious, activities, hobbies, extra curriculars, medical care of any kind, chores (also a skill/ habit development
When a kid gets sick because of homework, they often go back to more after done being sick. Studies on homework has proven that if kids have too much this can lead to being and often that is the cause for bad grades. Too schools grades is how you stay in activities and do extra stuff but how is that possible with the bad grades by homework. School may say that if they go outside 60 minutes a day you will be fine and not get sick. But we realized that the kids that get to go outside only kids that get bad grades.
"The amount of homework is and has been just ridiculous, my child can't have a real life," one parent complained in a school district survey. "There have been nights where we have been up until 12 or 1am because my child is still working on some school assignment." Homework is stressful and has no positive outcomes: it never raises your grade, it has little educational worth, and it ties up teachers’ time is marking it down taking time away from more effective lessons. Homework should not be allowed in schools being that it is pointless, stresses students and has little educational value.
Should kids should have no or less homework? Homework can take up a lot of time and can affect what you want to do. its effects sports by not making it too practice on time or get home home late and have to do it when they get home and their health by not getting to bed in time and could get stressed out over work .
Homework is a good thing for children because it gets them thinking but on the other side, too much homework can lead to serious problems that the children get or already have like triggering things. Having stress because of homework is really bad for kids our age because usually people become stressful when they become a parent and have students to take care of. In this case, the kids are taking care of their homework that they are responsible for. They also are worried if they do
This is a big deal because it creates more work for teachers, separates kids from their parents, and decreasing homework will decrease these problems.(http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/lake-zurich/community/chi-ugc-article-5-reasons-why-students-should-have-less-homew-2016-03-22-story.html). If the teacher don't get all the papers graded then they start to get stressed out. Same for kids because some kids that have a bunch of homework get stressed if they don't get it done in time. (http://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/homework-is-too-much/). Professors say that stress from too much homework causes sleep deprivation and health issues.
Also teachers can check whether students are doing good or bad. Students can show the ability and understanding of the section that they were learning.
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
Parents and schools believe that homework enhances students brain function and help them review what they did prior. But I believe this is wrong and, is just a cruel way to punish students. There are three reasons for saying why students should not get homework; For one, too much homework develops stress and a loss of sleep for the student. Furthermore, students should be able to go outside and play after school to maintain a good health.
Any students that attend school understand the struggle of homework. The subject i will be discussing is how students should have less homework from school. This issue i chose is relevant because in my school we have eight classes and homework from five of those classes and i think we should have less homework. The purpose why i chose to discuss this topic is because i'm hoping i could get through to principals, teachers, and the department of education. I am credible speaker because of how this issue affects me. This issue affects me because every day i walk a far distance to come home to do homework, and chores five days a week. While the other two days to have to read. I think students should have less homework because we come home to chores every day, we have seven hours of school five days a week and homework takes away fun activities with family and friends.
So giving them time to play and socialize , will have them doing work, not sleeping , and lastly paying attention. Giving children too much work, or teaching them 3 to 4 new techniques in on class can be too much for a child to handle. Everything that you teach that child they may not know already! So that could be hard on them to remember in little amount of time. So the best thing would be slowing it down and giving breaks in between.
Children go to school for seven hours a day, when teachers make them do homework it causes them to get stressed. Furthermore if children understand what they learned at school why do they need to repeat it at home? If children are struggling on a certain subject, teachers should be able to help them directly, not with homework because giving them homework on something they don't know anything about is counterproductive. Instead private tutoring could be something schools provide for failing students and not homework.
We all know the downfall of homework: the frustration and exhaustion, family conflict, time loss, and decreasing interest in learning. No study has ever demonstrated any academic achievement linked to assigning homework. There is also no support to the fact that homework provides nonacademic benefits at any age. Here are a few examples: building character, promoting self-discipline, or teaching good work habits. All teachers who assign homework want to believe that the gain outweighs the pain. Although, there is no evidence of that and they must rely on faith (“Homework: No Proven Benefits”, pg. 1). Michellea, a mother of a middle school student, says that some work can reinforce certain skills, but hours of homework are unhealthy and unproductive. Mominseattle agrees. She contemplates that such a heavy load can result in potential drawbacks to the students. Hours of homework a night plus a full day of school can be just as much work as an adult at a full-time job. She believes students should enjoy their childhood, as short as it already is. MagnetMom complains about how her daughter’s homework takes away her beneficial sleep. With busy families, like hers, they have many after school activities, so when they get home, they do not have time for too much homework. She says ...
