It's a question that is coming up more and more in state legislation: Should good grades be required to get a driver's license? On the outside, it seems like a good plan. By requiring kids to do well in school in order to operate a car, it seems as though you could easily incentivize having good grades, which would make your city or state appear more appealing. Another point that comes up is the idea that students who have good grades are more responsible that those who don't, and therefore our streets will be safer because we have more 'responsible' people on the road driving. However, these points are flawed and unfair, and make it difficult for both students and law enforcement alike. After the first year you get your licence, getting a "DUI", speeding, or getting in an accident revokes your license for six months, and to regain it you must retake the driver's ed course. The law proposes a similar punishment for having low grades: If you have a failing grade in two terms, you lose your licence for six months. This proposed law punishes a kid failing a class and a kid who physically wrecks his car at the same degree. It is absurd to hold kids at such high degree of punishment based on two grades. There are several reasons why a child might fail academically, like a loss in the family. If you do have a good reason for failing a class, you have to be reviewed by your principal and have him personally write a letter to the Department of Motor Vehicles. Yes, good grades do lead to good colleges, which do open doors, and yes, making students have the need to avoid bad grades is good as well. However, despite common belief, good grades are not that important. People like Steve Jobs prove that the label grades give mean nothing. The world has seen glory and success earned by many confident, jubilant people, and some of those very same people did not attend college or have perfect scores. If confidence and happiness are the keys to a good life, then what is the point of taking away such key factors when grades are involved? In actual numbers, motor vehicle crashes kill more than 5,000 teenagers every year (Gregory). These statistics are frightening and have led more than 50 percent of adults to support higher required ages for drivers’ licenses (Gregory). Teenagers, though, say this would be unfair and would make their lives difficult. Meeting the needs of Indiana teenagers while still keeping them and other drivers safe can be accomplished by a more restrictive graduated licensing law.
Driving at the age of sixteen is perfectly okay with people who does not seem to care because he or she feels as if someone gets into a car they are automatically going to put all attention into driving the vehicle which is not true nowadays because teenage drivers feel the need to be on a cell phone or trying to control the radio and trying to get dressed or put on make up when he or she should only be focused on operating the car. As the CDC stated “High school students aged 16 years and older who, when surveyed, said they had driven a vehicle one or more times during the past 30 days when they had been drinking alcohol.” ("Teen Drinking and Driving"), high school students are actually drinking when they should not be anywhere neat alcohol beverages and be able to drive. There have been only a handful of studies that were taken in places with the ‘no pass/no drive’ law. In those places, the studies had shown that it actually only helped a few students. In the article, it was written that, “In Tennessee, Heidi Ables, the guidance director at McMinn High School, said that her state’s ‘no pass/no drive’ law has encouraged at least a couple of teenagers to pay more attention school” (6). ‘At least a couple of teenagers’ is not what this law was intended to help. My parents gave me my first car for my sixteenth birthday. I was overjoyed by this new found freedom; however, like a large portion of teenagers, I was also terrified of driving. This was mostly because I didn’t receive a lot of experience with my permit, and also because I was afraid of crashing my new car. In the years preceding my sixteenth birthday I had mourned the deaths of several teenaged friends who had died in car crashes. I ended up waiting a full year after I turned sixteen to take my driving test, because I didn’t feel comfortable driving until then, which later paid off when I passed my driving test the first time I took it. In my opinion, all teenagers should do as I did and wait to get their licenses. Though in reality, not all teenagers would agree to wait, so, I believe the legal driving age should be raised to eighteen years of age.
Could you Imagine being told that you can not get your driver's licence because you GPA is too low? Passing a law to insure that teens with low GPA’s can not drive is a bad idea. To start off who would even manage the millions of teens to see what GPA they have. Something else is how much would it cost for taxpayers? Finally how many illegal drivers do you think would be on the road then?

When speaking about having test scores as an indication of a school’s competency, everything will be based on the school. The school will have to have something to base it on themselves in order to have the results. This is where it becomes unacceptable. The fact that the whole process puts the school in a jam will make the school fall to the employees for the work. This process leads to teacher evaluations. One of the reason people say that the legal driven shouldn't be raised is because they think teens should practice at age of 15-17 so by the time they are 17 they will be ready to drive. This can be shown where the author writes, “ … how to drive around 14-15 easing they into gradually, and with supervision so that by the time they are 17 or 18… [and]... there some very young pro drivers.” (Eric, text-1) These quotes shows how they teens can be successful by training. In some states, a program known as driver education is required. The program varying from a week or two in length to a whole year of curriculum can make a very large difference in the driving experience and knowledge of the driver. According to the national DMV website, teenagers who participated in a driver education course are fifty percent less likely to occur in an accident if they have completed a year long course of driver education. I think that a driver education course should be a requirement in schools across the nation in the student 's year when they would apply for their learner permit. By completing that course, future driver would share the same sort of education as well as having a vast knowledge of driving. By doing that, the legal driving age would not need to change as it should not need to change. I also believe that in addition to the mandatory driving hours spent with a parent, guardian, or adult, a new driver needs to spend time with a driver education certified teacher. By doing so, they will learn and maintain the proper skills needed to drive safely. Again, making that happens will only make the roads safer as driver will share the same knowledge on the road. Another stipulation that should take place before a teenager can apply for their license is drug and alcohol education and testing. Furthermore, students need to be aware of not only the dangers of drug and alcohol, but the dangers of drugs and alcohol in relation to driving. Today in the world you see how driving becomes an everyday thing, everybody uses a car to get to the destination they need whether it’s their job or just to go out. Many out there have their driver’s license, while others are just starting to learn how to drive to obtain their driver’s license. Everybody has always had an issue with what the right age should be to allow people to obtain their driver’s license and drive. While some people don’t argue with the age that teenagers should be allowed to drive, others don’t agree on letting teenagers get their driver’s license at such young age. Getting a driver’s license can be the most exciting part of a teens life. But what do teens have to do beforehand in order to obtain that license? For some, it's months of training and for others, they can complete everything within a few months. But does all that training make teens better drivers? The three main reasons why more drivers education for teens is not beneficial are: restrictions for teen drivers make it harder on parents, teens have to be able to get around without their parents, and not all teens need more drivers education.
School can be frustrating for students. Going to school, doing homework, and then repeating it all over again the next day can become quite tedious. Especially when one feels as if they are not gaining anything from doing well in school, it causes students to have very little motivation to complete their schoolwork. Students might be motivated if there was some sort of incentive for attending school and doing well at it. A law should be passed that requires students to be paid for doing well in school because it gives them motivation, helps them with financial issues, and allows them to learn how to manage money more effectively.

Every kid dreams of being wealthy, having a solid career, and taking care of family. Career days in elementary school, is most looked forward to next to field trips. Whether the child wants to be a doctor, police officer, or even a fireman, the professionals in that specific field will state that going to school is imperative. Every parent wants their child to have the most successful education. Any parent will go above and beyond to make sure that their child does not fail and is treated just as fair as the next. With that being said, private and public institutions should have the
