Should the driving age be lowered to 14 years of age? Yes, it should! I think there are many reasons why it should be lowered. Some articles say that in some of the states all over America, many teens have the opportunity to get their "full" license at age 16. In the state of South Dakota, you are permitted to get your drivers license at 14. This is an unfair advantage for the teens of other states! It gives the teens of South Dakota more experience on the road, over those residing in states outside South Dakota. Many of the driving laws in the United States vary from state to state, but I think it is important that we seek statewide unity on an appropriate driving age. If one state allows a "full" license at age 14, this law should be carried over to the all other states, not just South Dakota. …show more content…

It is obvious that not all teens are ready to drive at 14, which is why a more demanding test would separate those who are ready, from those who are not. Understanding that some teenagers shouldn't be given this privilege, I believe a requirement to obtain a driver's license at age 14 should be strictly enforced. The requirements would include, good attendance in school, a 3.5 GPA, and 3 outstanding recommendations from school teachers/mentors. I believe that if these things are required it would provide reassurance for parents/adult drivers, as well as teach responsibility to teens all across the United States!
It's not just teenagers causing the accidents in the world! It's the adults too! Adults want teens to be responsible, but how can it be proven unless the opportunity is given? Mature teenagers deserve a chance to prove their worth and responsibility with a legal driver's license at the age of 14!
