I believe it is harder for people with lower socioeconomic status to achieve upward mobility, because people of a lower status most likely won’t get a degree or certification. For the fact they may have to work to support their families instead of attending college. It’s not that most people don’t want it; they lack the income that is needed to attend college. Unfortunately for the jobs today you need a college education and the skills to compete in the workforce today. Unlike people from higher socioeconomic status who has the support of their families, the income and necessities to attend a college in order to compete in the workforce today.

2. In today society employers are making a college education a must in order to compete in the job market. Whether it’s a clerical job or management position, a college education is becoming the new high school diplomas. If won’t be enough to just graduate from high school you will need to continue by attending a college to get the skills and education for job today. The second shift is the shift that many women have been taking after coming home from working full time jobs. The second shift can consist of cooking, cleaning, and taking care of kids. This creates difficulties with women in the home and workplace because, jobs are not as flexible as needed, the hours are longer, and along with coming home multitasking this brings a strain on the woman.
