There is this teenage girl name Leah who lived in New York, she was ending her first year of high school as a freshman at Flushing High School. On the last month of classes around June she was hanging around with her best friend Henry. After class, they would hang out together and go to the city to explore and waste time, but there was one thing Leah had to tell Henry, her family had to move to Mexico because her parents thought that they will have a better life. So Leah had to leave with them. She told Henry about her moving with her family to Mexico, so they decided to go out to places before she left. It was a warm morning, Leah was getting ready to see her new high school with her mom. She looked through the window and saw a young boy around her age wearing a red cap, cutting off weed and fixing up a place across from where she lives. The guy knew she was looking at him from across the window, so he looked up and gave a smile at her. Leah moved away from the window and got embarrassed. She then took another peek and saw that the guy left with his bicycle, she was wondering who he was. A few minutes later, Leah’s mother took her to the high school she will be attending to, she saw the high school and it was much different where she attended to in New York, it was like a type long house with only 3 big room, they only had 1st year, 2nd year, and 3rd year of high school. They put her 1st year of high school which is like freshman year again. Leah will be starting high school within 2 weeks. She was kind of excited but yet nervous about how people will act with her since she can’t speak much Spanish. The next day she saw the guy she looked at through the window again cleaning up the property from across her house, he saw her looking at him again and he waved hi to her, Leah hid quickly and turned red, she told herself “ he probably thinks I’m a weirdo or he probably thinks I’m stalking him”. She saw that everyone knew each other and she felt left out, she didn’t want to talk to no one because she knew her Spanish was bad and felt like they might make fun of her. The teacher came in and made everyone present themselves and Leah was the first one the teacher asked to say their name, what school they came from, and what is their favorite hobby. Leah spoke and everyone knew she wasn’t from there because of her accent. She heard some classmates giggle in the corner and heard one of them called her “Gabacha” (foreigner) (American girl). she then turned around and saw the same guy that she saw through the window and notice that they are in the same class. He spoke up to the classmates that were making fun of her and told them not to be rude. Plot Summary: This is a story about a kid named Crash. When he was four he met this boy named James but that was all that was told about him so I didn’t put his name in the character list because he wasn’t all that important. He and Crash got into a lot of trouble at their house I mean a lot so one day when they were 12 and 13 Crash’s mother kicked him and his friend James out to go to the arcade. There they met this girl Winnie that crash liked I mean loved dearly but, she never really realized him until that day when they went to the arcade.

For many Mexican immigrants, crossing the border into the land of freedom and the American dream is no easy task. Some immigrants come over illegally by means of hiding in cars to cross borders, using visitor visas to stay longer, marrying to become citizens, and having babies as ‘anchors’ to grant automatic citizenship. Other immigrants gain green cards and work visas and work their way into becoming US citizens legally and subsequently gaining citizenship through paperwork for their families back home. After escaping harsh living and working conditions in Mexico, immigrants come to America prepared to gain education, opportunity, and work. The first day of school started and Kandy was in 10th grade. Her new clothes got her a lot of attention, everyone complimented her about how they loved what she was wearing. That was the only thing she was confident about, her clothes. She knew that her style was awesome. Her best friend, Ang, was in two of her classes. Kandy thought that this would be the best year of school because she never had any friends in any of her classes before. Turns out they both had the same lunch. Esperanza gets a summer job because her family wants her to. One day there was an open fire hydrant and a boy pushed Esperanza into it. Her aunt found her a job at the photofinishing store. Esperanza has to lie about her age to get the job though. She doesn’t think she can sit down for that long. She takes her brakes in the closest and eats in the bathroom. Esperanza makes friends with a guy at her job. She finally has someone to eat with at lunch and makes her feel better. He tells her its his birthday and to give him a birthday kiss.
