The motion of Ships is complex due to combination of control forces and external forces. Hydrodynamic perturbations are also induced from ship motions. The external forces are a combination of wind, waves and sea currents. The control system perturbation is defined by propulsion and steering system of ship [1]. The ship motion is non-linear due to resultant forces obtained from the combination of external forces and control system. Ship motions is defined by six degree of freedom in sea. According to [2], six degree of freedom divided into linear motion and rotational motion of ship in three directions (X, Y, Z axis).In most practical situations, the forces acting on the ship due waves and wind are very complex. Ships are the backbone of any maritime business. The working environment as well as the stability of ship in ocean will be affected due to the continuous perturbation from the sea environment The instability of ship motion may lead to unexpected accidents. The direct impact of such incidents is human. Beside human, the other important factors include the lives of ocean creatures, severe economic loss and pollution in marine environment. Because of complexity in ship motion we need to be aware every time. It is possible to use prediction model like neural network to see the possible motion of ship in the future. The predicted motion will be helpful for captain to control the ship for safety. The experienced knowledge on ship behavior is quite important to maneuver the ship towards the safe destination. The prediction model can predict any ship activities which can be very useful for captain for controlling the control system forces. The controlling forces mean captain can increase the efficiency of ship propeller, engine and fuel. Most important and key technique, such as information fusion, danger prediction technology traffic flow estimation and etc., cannot work without it. So the prediction of future time step for maneuvering of ship will be useful to implement the control forces accurately. The research based on the application of artificial intelligence such as Neural Network, Genetic Algorithm and Fuzzy Logic have shown the great potential for the prediction of ship behavior. A lot of interesting work has been carried out such as Ship Roll Motion Time series forecasting [4],online ship roll motion prediction [7], ship motion prediction [8], Ship trajectory based on Back propagation Neural Network [9] and Ship path following [10].The related work will be discussed in section 2.2.
