Pain is described as being physical or mental anguish that is a result of ailment or abuse. In some cases, carnal pleasure is obtained from the infliction of pain, discomfort, and torment of others. In other words, sensual gratification derived from physical suffering is known as Sadism. The sexual acts by sadists are done with malice making this form of perversion both anomalous and objectionable. Sexual sadism is a mental disorder with aggressive, pitiless and degrading characteristics that provokes an individual to behave in a dangerous manner towards others for sexual pleasure (Harenski et al., 2012). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the neural activity found in sadists and nonsadists while they observed pain in a picture presentation (Harenski et al., 2012). The pervasiveness of sadistic activities is undisclosed because some people do not want to proclaim their sexual preferences. For this study, a group consisting of all males from Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center, Mauston, Wisconsin, volunteered to be analyzed and tested. These men were sexual offenders who had committed 2 or more violent sexual crimes. The process would begin by dividing the 15 men into two groups, sadists and nonsadists. The indication of which group these men go into was determined by their scores on the Severe Sadism Scale which has demonstrated a great deal of accuracy. One of the first tests conducted was penile plethysmography (PPG), it is used to gauge blood flow to the phallus when a male becomes sexually aroused.
