Social Injustice Discrimination is shown in a variety of ways; this includes discrimination in age, disabilities, racism, religion, sexual preference, and sexism. These are example of social injustice. Social injustice is a concept about unfairness and injustice in society to a specific group. Sexism is discrimination based on the gender. Although it mainly occurs against women, so men may also suffer some sexism. Sexism is the belief of one sex being superior to the opposite sex and is unequally treated. Sexism can be experience in different ways; the most frequent being the work place. Such discrimination can be experienced by limiting job position opportunities and salary. Racism is discrimination against one’s ethnic background. Racism is the belief of one race being superior and having the right to rule the others. Racism involves from abusive or aggressive behavior to simple verbal or shunning behavior against groups of different culture, race, or religion. Groups of people believe they can restrict other groups from their rights of participating in economic, political, and social communities. During the 19th century, women began efforts to change society’s perspective of women’s place in society. Such topics include family responsibilities, the lack of education allowed, economic opportunities, and the need of voice representation in political debates. The idea that would start the movement happen when Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were denied to attend the Anti-slavery convention in London this caused them to arrange the first Women’s convention in Seneca falls, New York. We have seen it throughout history and it played a major role in events. Sexism and racism are just a couple of example of social injustice where in the end it was solved. As of today one can still find some levels of social injustice but to a more discreet level. All of this has impacted majorly in the society of today.
