Sex Crimes Against Women Did you know that around 19,000 sexual assaults are happening a year? (Torregrosa).Not only in the U.S. but globally. Any sex crime against a woman is a violation of human rights. In a personal definition human rights are rights ever person should have and deserve. The right of protection from unlawful punishment, torture, freedom of thought, expression, and the right to your own life and liberty. Sexually assaulting a woman is a violation of human rights in many ways. It is not moral and should not be justified as so.
Being sexually assaulted takes away a woman’s life as she knows it. Being sexually assaulted leaves a woman living in constant fear. After experiencing that women may be scared to enter a relationship
Taking away someone’s liberty is a violation of human rights. In many places women do not have control over their own bodies. Sex trafficking is a bigger problem than people can see. So many are trafficked in the world mainly consisting of women and children. Sex trafficking in India has increased by 122 percent (Tilak). Also in India they experience Dowry which is when a wife dies from burns, bodily harm, or unnatural circumstances at the hands of their significant other. As said in the famous words by Ghandi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Women in India need to be taught that it is okay to seek help from a husband that hurts you in any way and that they should not be ashamed for seeking
With so much stacked against the female victim, the male rapist wins and remains unimpeded to rape again and again, protected by a toxic climate of both social and legal impunity (Hagopian). When women do take the cases to court and the man is considered not guilty and gets away with the crime then the woman just feels even worse. They feel as if they are the ones in the wrong and they have to live in fear that their rapist will strike them
