A. Determination of the feasibility of one of the proposed service lines in the attached “Service Line Development Case Study”: Trinity Community Hospital is based in an economically sound community. Structured 25 years ago, in a prime location this 150-bed, non-for-profit hospital offers to the community residents a broad range of general medical, surgical, and support services. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) of 2010 signed into law requires a non-profit hospital is to conduct a community needs assessment. To justify their tax exemption every three years thorough analysis of community assessment will be widely publicize. Interventions will also need to be included to meet assessment needs must also meet at least one of the following criteria: • Improve access to healthcare services; • Enhance health of the community; • Advance medical or health knowledge; • Relieve or reduce the burden of government or other community efforts (Evans, 2011). Trinity Community Hospital community health assessment needs was obtained from input the hospital CEO and senior management obtained input from medical staff members and community leaders to develop a vision for the hospital. A five-year plan identified orthopedic, oncology and cardiology services needed to be developed in order to better serve the community needs. A five-year targeted outcome for these services was outlined along with the level of capital investment required to develop these services. Lastly, financial analysis was conducted to determine if sufficient margin will be generated for future growth. Trinity Community hospital takes pride in nursing staff that is known for clinical expertise and patient care. Physicians will be more attracted to come and practice in our facility if they know that they are supported in their practice by a knowledgeable nursing staff. Community hospital provides opportunities for the enhancement of the skills and expertise of all staff members. In the five year plan, orthopedic nursing staff certification is expected to be >75% and orthopedic staff retention rate is targeted to be >90%. The nursing staff will aid in patient education, with expected pre/post procedure class attendance >75%. The joint work between the orthopedic physician group and a knowledgeable nursing staff is projected to increase.
