Serendipity Mystery by R.F. Christi is the 7th book of the "Inca book series". The book Serendipity mystery is the diary of a snoopy cat Inca during her visit to Sri Lanka. The story is about the detective cat Inca and her team "Inca & Company" which includes her brother Fromage, sisters Cara and Charlotte, and Terrance, who is the doggy of a famous detective Solo.
The story begins with the travel of Inca's family to Sri Lanka. Inca and her family comes to their private beach at Galle to spend holidays. On the beach Inca finds some new sorts of animals which appears somewhat bizzare to her at first sight. They includes Rani, the turtle and Meenu, the baby elephant. However, Inca finds them interesting and they soon become good friends. In the meanwhile, an antique sword from the museum of Colombo gets stolen. The director of the museum calls the famous detectives Solo from France to investigate the case. Solo is Inca's neighbour and his dog Terrance, is a member of Inca & Company. Inca, with her team decides to get involved in the case. They investigate the case like professionals and finally find the sword.

The author has selected easy words, taking concern of the children. The text has very few instances of typos and hence appears professionally proofread. The text is well illustrated with beautiful pictures. It is an important criteria for a children's literature. The text has a family tree of the protagonist at the very beginning itself, and also a list of the members of "Inca & Company". The advantage of this is that children would find it easy to recognise the characters while reading. The story focuses on the struggles of Sofi, the death of her daughters and the problems of their town. Sofi endures all the hardships and problems that come her way. Her marriage is deteriorating; her daughters are dying one by one. But, she endures it all and comes out stronger and more enlightened than ever. Sofi is a woman that never gives up no matter how poorly life treats her. The author- Ana Castillo mixes religion, super natural occurrences, sex, laughter and heartbreak in this novel. The novel is tragic, with no happy ending but at the same time funny and inspiring. It is full of the victory of the human spirit. The names of Sofi’s first three daughters denote the three major Christian ideals (Hope, Faith and Charity).

Owl's character as knowledge over amusement may be boring to children listening to his intellectual rambles e.g. Roo's boredom with the encyclopedia. Hence, characters like Winnie the Pooh, who brings amusement, may seem more attractive than Owl. While the character of CR is used to demonstrate the relationship between children and adults by the use of many parallels, speech and actions, it is the animals that represent the author's construction of different types of childhood. In addition to this, the animals are also the providers of amusement and entertainment which draw children's love and interest.
This story gives a perfect example of what Faris says about John Updike's statement ,"Magical realism combines realism and the fantastic in such a way that magical elements grow organically out of elements portrayed"(Faris 163). Some of the elements are the donkey prince, Wild Men mountain, birds that sang, and a magic apple. A person could get a realization of magical realism and fantastical literature even by reading a children's story. Doing so takes an imagination in the adult life as well as the childs'. I think if a person does not involve the fantastic and the magical realism, the story is not as good.
Each one, despite being fiction, is a painting of his experiences, and the cultures of Buenos Aires. Among his themes are myths passed down through the families in his country. I thought that the stories that were contained in this collection were very educational. When finally taking a minute to analyze, and find deeper meaning to the tales, I discovered that they all posses what he has known in his life. He is easily distinguishable in his works.

Within the works of “Fiesta, 1980” it takes us in the lives of a Latin American family. We are described a traditional style Latino family were there is a dominate father figure, a submissive mother, and obedient children more or less. There are two boys the eldest Rafa and the youngest Yunior and their younger sister Madai. During the transgression of the story it is conveyed through the eyes of Yunior. And like any typical family it has its own story to tell.
Style: The typical Magical- Realistic story of García Márquez placed in a familiar environment where supernatural things take place as if they were everyday occurrences. Main use of long and simple sentences with quite a lot of detail. "There were only a few faded hairs left on his bald skull and very few teeth in his mouth, and his pitiful condition of a drenched great-grandfather took away and sense of grandeur he might have had" (589).
Kino, Juana, and Coyotito go back to the beach and row out to an oyster bed, where he begins to search for the pearl. As Kino continues to search, Juana takes things into her own hands after being refused by the doctor and sucks the poison out of Coyotito and then puts seaweed on the wound, unknowingly healing him. Meanwhile Kino gathers several small oysters but suddenly comes across a particularly large oyster. He picks the oyster up and returns to the surface. When Kino opens the oyster he discovers the pearl. Word that the pearl has been discovered travel through the town quickly. People in the town became jealous of Kino and his family which eventually leads to a great deal of harm.
Diary of a Snoopy Cat is the fifth book in the Inca Cat (fictional) book series. It is possible to read this book as a standalone, however. I am reviewing it as such because that's how I read it; with no knowledge of the previous four books. Inca, self-proclaimed head of the household, has recently helped her doggie friend, Terrance, solve a mystery (along with help from her brother and sister). Now, bitten by the detective bug, she dreams of becoming known far and wide.
