As an upcoming senior you will think that your senior year will be stress less. But that not the case it will be filled with work on top of work. During my senior year I didn't think senioritis was real until I have to actually do work I didn't feel like doing . Once I got to the second quarter I was completely check out and ready to graduate. As a senior myself I didn't do some of my homework, I was getting low test scores, and not coming to school. Senioritis is real and after the first quarter you will feel like it's no purpose. So it's important to stay motivated and avoid laziness.

Teenagers already have to deal with being at high school for 6+ hours but also have to do homework (which can be can also be 6+ hours with AP classes). Teenagers also often have to deal with sports, jobs, clubs, and then there’s familial issues they have to deal with. Community service work should not interfere with sleep or school work. Senioritis is in fact real and slowly making life harder for the high school seniors. As a senior in high school, I know first hand the consequences on having senioritis. I have been through senioritis for a moment as I would be tardy for my first hour almost constantly.
Procrastination comes from the thought of an individual knowing that they can do the same job at a later time. Everyone has been guilty of procrastinating because it is a human fear that no one can escape. To procrastinate is to put off or defer until another time, in other words it may mean to delay (Marano). In Psychology Today, Hara Marano said “twenty percent of all humans identify themselves as chronic procrastinators” (“Marano”). Procrastination is a human behavior that every college student has experienced at some point in his or her educational paths. For some college students, procrastination is a minor issue, for other college students, procrastination is a way of life that results in stress and could possibly be easily be avoided. Why? Procrastination can be broken down into three categories: how someone is considered a procrastinator, characteristics of a procrastinator, and how to escape procrastination.
Procrastination is a common problem with students. Students wait closer and closer to the due date to complete an assignment. Procrastinating is something that everyone has done at one point in his or her lives. All students such as elementary students, middle school students, high school students, and college students procrastinate. Students have many reasons why they seem to procrastinate. I encounter difficulty managing my time with just about everything I do; I always wait too long. Throughout high school I was never in a hurry to get any of my work done. The work was easy to me, so if I waited until the last minute to do anything, it wasn’t hard for me to finish. I could always take my time to get everything done and still get a good grade in high school. Even if the work was harder and took me a little extra time, my teachers were all very lenient and accepted late work. My high school was very easy and allowed me to get into the bad habit of procrastinating.
Walter Kirn successfully unearths some of the worst aspects of senior year. However, these reasonings are not sound enough to condone the discontinuation of it. College students have to balance work, family, and college activists and any delaying behavior from within can cause an unbalance. Procrastination is a concept that is very relatable and real that if you ask anyone in the world whether they’ve ever procrastinated in their life, undeniably their answer will be yes. It’s been dubbed as normal and has been accepted by several procrastinators as a part of their life. Per the Merriam-Webster dictionary normal is defined as “conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern” (Merriam-Webster 2017). As a high school/early college student there shouldn’t be any room for procrastination because of the many seminars that talk about time management and accepting responsibility and pride for your work. After find confident and career goal, students need to work hard toward it. These are some solutions to make students avoid being lazy. When students register for classes, they can start by taking the classes that they most familiar with or the classes they will do good. Students can easily avoid being lazy by pick classes that interest them or make them feel like learning it. Then they can start by find some motivation to finish the courses or college, the motivation can be like; try to impress friends, to- complete goal, to get out of school as much as possible or to get a career. Like Steve Mueller stated “Laziness is a mental state in which a person lacks energy and/or the necessary willpower and desire to perform a given task.” (Way to fight and overcome laziness).
