Senior Reflective Essay In my final year of highschool, I honestly feel like I have limited myself from change but at the same time I've improved enough to say that I have grown throughout my four years of highschool. To prove that I´ve grown, I'll compare my senior year to freshmen year academically and morally. My freshmen year, I was told by previous seniors that my first year wouldn't contribute to my graduation requirements. I believed in those words and proceeded to slack off until junior year, that's when I realized that even if it didn't matter, I would have a major effect on my effort. As a senior now, I've noticed that every year affects not only your graduation requirements but also you as a person.Since graduation is around the
Looking back through my middle school and high school years, I see that I have matured a great amount. I see my current self as someone that treats others with respect, and who does not blurt out anything that comes to mind. I sadly cannot say that was always the case. Throughout high school, everyone changes at least a minimal amount, and sometimes you don’t even notice the changes. Maturity is something that happens naturally for most, and can happen in the matter of a summer break.
2015 was a real turning point in my high school career. I finally started working harder in school and started to enjoy it more. Although the enjoyment came right back down, it was still fun while it lasted. My writing however, has greatly changed. SAT #2 was where I really started having fun. “For Susan was a sinner. She smoked Crack Cocaine every day!” (SAT #2, Nowak) That was the SAT journal that made me realize that writing didn't have to be a chore. However the second half of the year was a little different. I think I started to grow lazy. My previously fine-tuned papers were now pretty much rants. “Pink is used anywhere from romantic nonsense to childish obsessions.” (Gatsby Color Analysis, Nowak) For my Gatsby analysis, my writing was all over the place and covered a wide range of topics. Unfortunately it made it sound pretty bad. I am starting to get better and regularly
Senior year. The year known for its “lasts” of everything and the start of one 's adulthood. It’s also a busy part of life- college applications, college acceptance, graduation, and even get to know what the terminal disease “senioritis” feels like. Senior year is the last year that I will get the chance to cheer on the football team every Friday night, running track every Thursday, as well as seeing my favorite teachers on a day to day basis. This year is my year, the year that is going to change everything that I have ever known. Senior year is the year that will impact myself, my friends, my family, as well as everyone that surrounds me. It will be the year of change.
Walter Kirn successfully unearths some of the worst aspects of senior year. However, these reasonings are not sound enough to condone the discontinuation of it. Any issues found are the fault of the student or the school administration, not the grade level itself. Senior year is worth holding on to for both the persistence of learning and for solidifying relationships. Kirn mentions with pleasure his choice to leave high school early. Nonetheless the four year high school experience should not be demoralized by those who wish to value it for the irreplaceable opportunity it is.
At beginning of the semester in September of 2015, Miss Jackson explain to us about senior defense which is a presentation by require by the state for all high school senior to do in order to graduation from high school. Some people in my class started getting nervous and scary about it except me. At the time I got used to presentation and create Microsoft PowerPoint or Prezi in front of class but this presentation was different from other one I did before, I know would had to prepared myself for this assignment because this presentation was going be in front of older adult half my age and I realize I need to improve my reading and writing skills in order to prove I’m college ready for college. When come to this topic of Police brutality I
This essay will explore the authors meaning of reflection, how various reflective styles can benefit the practitioners within their settings, and how important reflection is within Early Years Practice. According to Appleby (2010, p.10), reflection is a generic term which describes various behaviours involving feelings, and thinking about thoughts and experiences, in order to examine issues and develop, new understandings and insights. Reflection within practice allows the practitioner to develop a sense of awareness around their daily activities, and helps them to evaluate how they could evolve these activities further, if the given opportunity was to arise again. Similarly, keeping a reflective journal
First, I would like to thank the Louie F. Cox Memorial AK Steel Foundation and the Middletown Community Foundation for their continued support as I pursue my education. My first year at Case Western Reserve University has been incredible and I found many opportunities to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. During my first few weeks on campus, I joined the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and also earned a seat on the executive board as membership chair. NSBE has allowed me to enhance my networking skills, advocate for diversity, and engage with the campus community. I also mentored high school students through the NSBE Jr. program and volunteered at engineering-themed events throughout the greater Cleveland area. A major highlight of this year was attending the National NSBE Convention in Kansas City, MO and meeting Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. His advice on finding a career in Silicon Valley was especially helpful, as I declared my academic path: a double major in computer science and business management (with a specialization in supply chain management) and a minor in data science.
It is that time of year once more, exams, graduation, packing up the room, but in a moment such as this I can take time to reflect upon what I’ve accomplished throughout my senior year. In just a short 180 days, so much has happened. Sports seasons came and went, dances, school functions, but one thing remained a constant, AP work. I remember at the end of last year that I didn’t want to take AP literature and composition, I wanted to just be able to coast through my senior year, get by with minimal effort and besides, I would never be any good at the material anyway. That is when my parents stepped in and forced me to take it, as well as AP United States Government and Politics, and it may have been the greatest interception of all time. I knew the course was going to be difficult, it is Mr. Primmer for crying out loud. But, it was difficult with a purpose, a drive to succeed was behind every single assignment and a stride for improvement behind every single grade. I learned a lot about myself this year in this class. I learned that maybe I should have a little more faith in myself, I can accomplish things when I really try. I learned that I do not like analyzing poetry but I do like reading Shakespeare.
My senior project entailed determining the highest efficiency wind energy generation. Using the information collected during the research process, I created a small scale, as well as a large scale wind turbine to test the different flows of wind. The small scale wind turbine measures 9 inches high and is 1/600 of a commercial wind turbine. The larger turbine is eight feet high and has a span of three feet. The inspiration behind my project is environmental engineering and sustainability. I have had many opportunities throughout high school such as a summer internship and robotics club, that have influenced my senior project product’s design and aesthetic. The final result of product is exceptionally better than I expected because of the time, research, and effort I put into creating something with the capability of
So far since I started high school in Roanoke Valley Early College I learned a ton. I learned school is going to get really hard and I need to stay on top of my work which is hard to do for me. I also learned people are going to hateful and want to put you down. They are not strong enough to come to face with it so they just do it behind your back. Since I have been in your Freshman Seminar I learned that you place yourself on a level of where you feel you need to work on to get to the next level. I also learned that when I get older and I am out on my own it is going to be hard and I will have struggles and I have to fix it myself. I realize that my Freshman seminar starts my high school years off and it is important, but I am really seeing me struggling in my high school years to get that 2.5 grade point average to even get into a public university. To be honest, I will be happy to get into any school I can get into because I do have struggles and a lot of them. I have also found out that there will be teachers that does not like at all, but you have to pass
Being a senior to me means more that just one thing. It means my last ten football games, senior project and, graduating. It seems like yesterday that I was in eighth grade watching my brother play football on the same field I am now. Back then being a senior in high school seemed so far away that I never took the time to think about it or anything. Now that it’s here I wonder where the time went.
Over the last four years, I have made great additions to my personal growth. I havebecome a much more mature person as well as more open minded. Teachers and coaches haveall said that I have matured greatly from my freshman year; that I have become calmer and morethoughtful about what I do and how I do it. For example, in Track and Field I have decided toparticipate in a broad range of events instead of narrowly focusing on pole-vaulting solely. Irealize that it will increase my chances of getting a scholarship for track and field.
As we know, human being keep learning though all their lives, Sometimes I am thinking how we adult learning. In this book, I found them--some related concepts about adult learning and ways to Self-Direct Learning(SDL). Before reading this book. I already knew what is the adult learner is. In China, students who are over 18 years old are the adult in General Principles Of the Civil Law. In some perspectives, University education can be called adult education. It is new for me to learn this knowledge, so I chose the first eight chapters of the textbook.
Overall my experience of being in Lingleville ISD was a great experience that allowed me to learn a lot not only about the students in the classroom, but also helped me learn a lot about myself. Going in to this classroom I expected to only learn things about classroom management and maybe a few strategies. After spending a few days in this room I learned many other things. I did learn about classroom management but I also learned about content, strategies, organization, lesson planning, and inclusion adaptations. I learned that an inclusion special education student can really thrive being in a mainstream classroom, not only academically but also socially. It was a wonderful learning opportunity to get to be a part of that. My mentor teacher
My senior year of high school…I want to enjoy people’s company, appreciate my family’s presence, and keep a permanent Polaroid of my “home town” etched in my memory. I have a purpose for the year, I know what I want to accomplish for the future, but I have to remember to make the most out of today because there may not always be a tomorrow.
