Although there are many people at OHS who exhibit the qualities of the Rotary Four Way Test, I believe one individual stands out the most. The person I believe exhibits those qualities every day of their life would be Selena Ellison. Not only is she kind to everyone one she knows, but she is willing to help them no matter the circumstances. She is selfless and is willing to go the extra mile to let others know they always have someone in their life to lean on. During the time I have known Selena, I have come to realize that I will never meet a more kind hearted person than her. Selena Ellison passes the Rotary Four Way Test with ease because of how caring, courageous, and thoughtful she is. Being in high school is not always easy; some people will do crazy things that will cause them to ruin their life because they want to fit in, or individuals will bully others because they think it will make them seem popular. They are not only hurting themselves, but they are potentially hurting others along the way. Even though it could possibly cause emotional distress to the person, she would rather tell them the truth instead of sugar coating it. Yes, she cares about their feelings and doesn’t want them hurt, but if the shoe was on the other foot, she wouldn’t want someone to keep something from her. Her parents were very young when they started a family. It was a small farm, but she loves it. Since she was five years old, she helped her parents by working in the farm. Her job was to feed the horses, cows, chickens, and pigs. She loves all her animals, but her favorite animal was horses. When she was young, she loved to ride her horses. She felt off the horse and hurt head when she was young. Selena Quintanilla Pérez was a famous woman Tex-Mex singer. Her life was filled with music, singing, joy, and fame. She had many accomplishments in her musical career. Unfortunately, she lived a short life and her music career wasn't as long as she would've hoped. Shot by her fan club president, Selena died at the age of 23. She may not have had a long music career, but she will go down as one of the most famous woman Tejano singers in history, known as the “Queen of Tejano Music”.
Selena Quintanilla, the madonna of Tejano music. Such an empowering person; she was beloved by many. Her tragic death caused an immense outrage and pained many. Yolanda Saldivar, her killer made a huge mistake that day. Nothing can justify her shooting Selena. Her actions were driven by hatred towards the Quintanilla family, greed, and caused an immense outbreak of mourning. Although some may say that her actions were justified because of her being fired, that is not a good enough reason to shoot someone. Here are my explanations as to why Yolanda saldivar did not have a valid reason to end Selena Quintanilla’s life.
She’s just so weak. If she would stand up for herself, no one would bother her. It’s her own fault that people pick on her, she needs to toughen up. “Shape of a Girl” by Joan MacLeod, introduces us to a group of girls trying to “fit in” in their own culture, “school.” This story goes into detail about what girls will do to feel accepted and powerful, and the way they deal with everyday occurrences in their “world.” Most of the story is through the eyes of one particular character, we learn about her inner struggles and how she deals with her own morals. This story uses verisimilitude, and irony to help us understand the strife of children just wanting to fit in and feel normal in schools today.

Young people shouldn’t have to be so afraid of going to school because they’re being bullied by their classmates. They shouldn’t feel like they have to commit suicide because of all pain that is in their life. They shouldn’t have to resort to cutting to relieve emotional pain or desolation. Young people shouldn’t have to worry about being sexually abused by the one’s closest to them. It happens, though, none of which should, but it does. Are we going to sit around and let it happen, or are we going to do something about it? Are we going to show young people today that we love them and care about them and want them to succeed in life? Are we going to show them that we are there for them?
During the essay the author lost her innocence but graduated to a deeper appreciation and clarity of who she is and who she could become. In her school with no visible fences keeping the children within the schoolyard, there were the invisible fences of racism that tried to limit them from reaching their full potential. The author concludes, "I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death" (841).

She got fired for stealing money from Selena’s boutique, but she still needed to make up all the money she embezzled. Some people may argue that lying is ok to protect someone’s feelings. Those who believe say, that if your friend is wearing an ugly dress and they ask you if they look superb. You would say,”Yes,” right? This argument is wrong because if they go out with that same dress on and they get made fun of they will blame it on you. This is why you should tell the truth, not blunt but nicely so you can keep friendships and relationships.
The documentary states that she will be released from jail soon despite her efforts to learn how to manage her anger and rage. Selena Newell was sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery. She admitted that losing her youngest daughter just 5 days after she was incarcerated made her more angry and hateful. When the bullying started in fifth grade when she started volunteering with the deaf, her parents confronted the principal only to be told that kids will be kids. Life didn't get better for Jodee for a while. She changed schools to avoid the bullies but nothing worked. The fact that she had a deformity didn't help things and she was terrified someone would discover her secret. She was scared to attend her high school reunion because she was afraid of how they would treat her. Ms. Blanco has been through a lot.
In this film, Tracy is a prime example of an adolescent and much of what I have learned this year can be applied to her character. “Fitting in” is a concept that is seen a lot in adolescence. Teenagers will do pretty much anything at times to have friends or appear to be “cool.” That is exactly what happens to Tracy in this film. As the film begins, Tracy is a good, simple girl, and her pureness all changes when she befriends the most popular girl in school, Evie Zamora.
The Four-Way Test is a process that encourages everyone to evaluate their patterns of decisions, thinking, and acting. The Four-Way Test practically helps people decide how to come about what to say next, how to act, and to make them stop before they decide something that could potentially have a dramatic impact on the rest of their life. It can influence what people say, think, and do exceedingly substantially. The first step is “is it truthful?” The second is “is it fair to all concerned?” The third is “Will it build goodwill and better friendships?” And finally, “will it be beneficial to all concerned?” All inclusive, the Four-Way Test can impact and encourage what individuals say, think, and do in an impressive number of ways.
